Senior Expert Researcher for Socio Economic Needs Assessment

Ruwad Al Houkouk Frontiers is conducting a research paper to identify and assess the living conditions of the stateless population in Lebanon. 
The ultimate goal of the research paper is fill a serious gap of the socio-economic research area of this population and to be able to present reliable data to decision-makers and stakeholders for action.

Scope of the Consultancy:

The Senior Expert researcher will design the research methodology. In principle, it should entail desk review and field research.

The Responsibilities of the Senior Expert Researcher

The Senior Expert researcher would be responsible for leading the research in close consultation with the association’s Director.

These responsibilities include deciding on methodology and techniques of the research, developing the research instruments; assist in recruiting and training the surveyors (8 to 12 experienced surveyors); planning and supervising the conduct of the research; reviewing research fieldworks, validating collected data, data entry and retrieving of information; analyzing the findings and drafting a quantitative and qualitative report with recommendations. 

Researcher’s Qualification Requirements

Educational Requirements:

• PhD (or an experience equivalent to PHD) in  economics  (development  and  finance  is  preferred)  or  social  sciences  (sociology is preferred)  or any  other  relevant  discipline.

Work Experience

• Minimum 7 years working experience in a research position involving both  qualitative  and  quantitative policy oriented socio-economic  research  methods  and  familiarity  with  interdisciplinary  research  methodologies and conceptual frameworks.

Language Requirement

High fluency in oral and written Arabic & English.

Other Skills Requirements

• Experience in quantitative analysis through handling large datasets using various socio-economic research software programmes, such as SPSS, STATA, or MATLAB
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and track record of demonstrable analytical and data visualization skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain various economic and social concepts to non-expert audiences simply and succinctly
• Ability to work under pressing deadlines
• Adhere to produce high-quality work and demonstrate high-performance
• Work in enthusiastic manner with his/her colleagues and immediate supervisor
• Ability to lead the research team cooperatively and collaboratively
