Dorcas is a Christian relief and development organisation active in Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Dorcas works together with local partner organisations. Dorcas is committed to fulfil the command Jesus Christ gave to His followers to take care of the poor and oppressed (Mt.25.31-46), irrespective of their race, religion, gender or political conviction, by encouraging self-reliance through development, providing social care and assisting in emergency situations.

Dorcas plans to build capacity for local NGOs and CBOs in Aleppo following the October 2023 Multi-Sector Needs Assessment (MSNA), which highlighted significant gaps in livelihood, protection, and mental health services. The MSNA recommended enhancing local NGO capabilities to deliver comprehensive support. Through training and sensitization programs, this initiative targets community leaders, healthcare providers, and frontline staff to improve prevention and response efforts. Training will occur in Aleppo Governorate, Syrian territory, during August 2024 (specific dates TBD).

Lebanon in urgent distress

Press Release

In response to the recent surge in violence in Lebanon, Dorcas Lebanon has swiftly taken action to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to those displaced by the conflict. The team in Beirut has begun distributing essential supplies, including blankets, mattresses, food, and hygiene products, to displaced people. Alongside these immediate provisions, they are also offering mental health and psychosocial support. Many are grappling with feelings of fear, insecurity, and uncertainty.
