LUPD is a grassroots organization built by and for people with disabilities. We believe that we have an important role to play in arriving at our vision of society by working with people with disabilities, a population that has been traditionally marginalized. As such, our specific mission is the following:
• To defend the rights of people with disabilities; more specifically to work towards their access to equal opportunities and a quality life and to ensure that their basic needs (health, education, employment, socio-economic integration, freedom of choice) are fully respected and guaranteed;
• To eradicate marginalization and gender discrimination from the lives of people with physical disabilities;
• To mobilize people with physical disabilities to speak on their own behalf;
• To promote the spread of a culture of inclusion and right of participation;

In partnership with CBM, and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), LUPD launched the project “Enhancing food security and strengthening socio-economic resilience in crisis on community-level in Bekaa Valley, Mount Lebanon, and South Lebanon”.
The project aims to support vulnerable people with and without disabilities to be more resilient in times of crisis by strengthening their livelihood and food security and promoting social cohesion at the community level, by providing them with suitable vocational training ending with job opportunities.
