Thematic Trainers for Government Actors

About the Assignment

Search for Common Ground (SFCG) and its partner, the National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW), are implementing a four-year regional program to strengthen the meaningful and enduring participation of women and youth in advancing inclusive peace and security in the Levant and Yemen. This program specifically focuses on:

  1. Consolidating women's rights organizations’ (WROs) and youth-focused/youth-led organizations’ (YFOs/YLOs) strategic engagement and influence in municipal and national peace and reconciliation processes.
  2. Motivating key sub-national and national institutions to strengthen inclusive policies and standards, facilitating inclusive youth and women’s participation in peace and security.
  3. Promoting shifts in social norms around women and youth’s meaningful inclusion in peace and security at all levels, including stronger alliances with men and boys.

We are seeking an experienced consultant with the requisite knowledge, skills, and attributes to provide technical support to all stakeholders in developing training materials, delivering trainings, and providing a comprehensive trainer report. This will strengthen and scale up the capacity, skills, and knowledge of government actors and key influencers (KILs) in various areas, including but not limited to: Women, Peace, and Security (United Nations Security Council Resolution UNSCR 1325) and Youth, Peace, and Security (UNSCR 2250), and inclusive and representative policymaking, as identified by Search and NCLW. The consultant will be under the direct supervision of Search’s Project Manager and NCLW’s Project Coordinator.

 

Goals and Objectives of the Consultancy

The goal of the thematic training is to enhance the knowledge, skills, and engagement of government actors and key influencers (KILs) in Lebanon in areas related to UNSCR 1325 and UNSCR 2250. Additionally, the training aims to equip them with practical skills to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of women and youth in peace and security initiatives and to promote inclusivity and representation in policy making processes.

The training sessions should  be delivered in Arabic but all reporting to the Search team should be in English.

 

Training Modules and Agenda

Deliverables:

  • Training Modules: Detailed content for each training module covering all necessary topics. Including: PowerPoint Presentations: Slides for each module/session. Handouts: Supporting materials for trainees, such as guides, summaries, and reference sheets. Pre-Test and Post-Test: Assessments to gauge trainees' knowledge before and after the training. Additional Resources: Any supplementary materials like articles, videos, or recommended readings.
  • Facilitation of Trainings: Conduct the specified number of trainings based on the agreed upon topic ensuring sessions are interactive and engaging, catering to the trainees' learning needs.

Timeline

The training/workshops are expected to be delivered in-person, in Beirut,  during September and October 2024. The number of days dedicated to each training/workshop is up to 2 days. The total number of days to be committed vary depending whether the candidate can deliver both training topics or only one.

 

Required Profile

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in training on the proposed topic.
  • Experience in training design, planning, interactive delivery, facilitation, and monitoring.
  • Experience in providing training for government actors.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the local context in Lebanon.
  • Knowledge of local contexts, cultural awareness, and conflict- and gender-sensitivity skills.
  • Experience working with international organizations and/or public institutions, especially in Lebanon.
  • Solid communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work with people from various social and professional backgrounds and at all levels.
  • Proficiency in English and Arabic.

Preferable but not required:

  • A degree in the topic/s proposed or closely related.
