Research Objectives: • Study the impact of Play Based Learning (PBL) approach on child development in early years; • Study the effect of PBL on teaching practices, and on the physical and emotional safety of learning spaces.

Research Methodology A mixed method approach, of qualitative and quantitative longitudinal study (3 years) with comparative groups is envisioned. The methodology should include a desk-review and design phase in which existing data and information is used as a starting point for designing the full research plan.

Research Start and End dates Full research: March 2021 – June 2024 Duration of posted consultancy: March 2021 – December, 2021 Applicants of this consultancy are applying for phase 1 only. Possibility of agreement extension to future phases can be considered later.

Anticipated task and deliverables Dates • Develop inception report that includes a desk review, revised research question, methodology, sampling, data collection tools, analysis plan, fieldwork and logistics plan: May, 2021 • Hire a team and collect data of phase 1: November, 2021 • Analyse data of phase 1: December, 2021
