Michel Daher Social Foundation (MDSF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable communities in Lebanon. MDSF operates across four pillars: healthcare, social development, economic and human development, and community development and sustainable livelihoods. Through its programs, MDSF promotes resilience, sustainability, and social stability by addressing the needs of individuals, communities, and local enterprises.

Background

Salam Project, implemented by MDSF and funded by GIZ, aims to foster economic resilience and social stability in Southern Baalbek, West Bekaa, and Central Bekaa. The Takallam Social Center is a dedicated space that offers a supportive environment for children with learning, speech, and expressive challenges, providing therapy, counseling, and psychological aid for both children and parents. A key component of the project focuses on transforming the Takallam Center into a hub for psychosocial
services and community activities. The music therapy initiative seeks to empower youth and adolescentsto lead change in their communities by addressing psychosocial needs, fostering self-expression, and building skills for advocacy and career development.

Objective
The primary objective of this call for consultancy is to build the capacity of selected youth to deliver music therapy Training of Trainers (TOT) for children. The training will ensure that participants gain the theoretical and practical expertise required to independently provide therapeutic interventions through music.

 

Scope of Work
The trainer will be responsible for the following:
1. Develop a comprehensive training curriculum tailored to youth with diverse educational backgrounds.
2. Deliver interactive Training for Trainers covering:

  • Foundations of music therapy (theory and principles).
  • Techniques and methods for therapeutic music interventions.
  • Practical skills for engaging with children, including those with trauma or learning difficulties.

3. Facilitate hands-on practice TOTs for youth to apply their learning in real-world scenarios.
4. Provide mentorship for the trainees to enhance their confidence and competence.
5. Assess the progress of participants and provide recommendations for further development.
6. Submit a final report detailing the training process, outcomes, and recommendations.

 

Deliverables

  • Comprehensive Training Curriculum: A detailed curriculum covering both theoretical and practical aspects of music therapy, tailored to the needs of the youth trainees.
  • TOTs: Delivery of 25 interactive training over 3 months, ensuring a balance between theory and practical application.
  • Training Materials: Preparation and provision of all necessary materials, including presentations, handouts, exercises, and resources for hands-on practice.
  • Practical Demonstrations: Facilitation of hands-on practice where youth trainees can apply music therapy techniques with feedback and guidance.
  • Participant Assessment: Regular assessments of trainee progress through evaluations, tests, or practical demonstrations, with constructive feedback provided.
  • Progress Updates: Submission of weekly progress reports highlighting key activities, challenges, and the overall development of trainees.
  • Final Report: A comprehensive report summarizing the training process, outcomes, and actionable recommendations for youth to continue their career development in music therapy.

The trainer is expected to collaborate with the MDSF team to identify the required instruments and their specifications and work closely with the architect to finalize the design of the room designated for music therapy.

 

Duration of Assignment
The training program will span over 3 months, with TOT sessions. Sessions will be scheduled based on an agreed timeline to ensure adequate time for theoretical and practical learning.

Trainer Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess the following:

  1. A degree in Music Therapy.
  2. At least 5 years of experience as a music therapist, with a track record of delivering music therapy training.
  3. Strong understanding of therapeutic interventions for children with trauma or learning difficulties.
  4. Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate youth.
  5. Previous experience working with NGOs or community-based organizations is an asset.

The training will take place at Michel Daher Social Foundation, Bekaa, Lebanon.

Step 2: Submit Your Bid
Email your complete bid to procurement@daherfoundation.org by February 3, 2025.
The subject line must include the TOR title (Music Therapy Expert). Incomplete submissions or those without the correct subject line will not be considered.

Step 4: Payment Terms

  • Payment will be made via bank transfer or Telegraphic Transfer (TT) within 15 working days after service completion.
  • Payment will be processed after deliverables are met.
  • Note: Without a valid MOF certificate, tax deductions of 3.4% on goods and 8.5% on services will apply, according to articles number 41 and 42 of the income tax law.

Step 5: Evaluation
Proposals will be evaluated based on:

  • Technical (60%): Methodology, curriculum, experience with youth, and mentorship approach
  • Financial (40%): Cost-effectiveness and competitiveness
