How to Create your Own Business Trainer
Michel Daher Social Foundation is a local NGO that aims to create an enabling environment where everyone can achieve their highest potential. MDSF is a community partner in the IdeaLab program. The program’s objective is to strengthen the business and product viability of start-ups in agrifoodtech, and cleantech sectors from the Bekaa area. The Program also focuses on the societal impact by providing business incubation and training to vulnerable youth.
We are seeking an experienced expert to deliver a design thinking workshop that will provide participants with an opportunity to identify urgent community issues concerning cleantech and agritech sectors, with the goal of crafting a well-defined and impactful idea for the IdeaLab program.
Scope of Work
The expert(s) will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive series of workshops over 2 days in the Bekaa area. The target is 35 participants.
The two full-day How to Create Your Own Business workshop empowers participants by guiding them through the process of conceptualizing, analyzing, and implementing solutions.
It equips them with the skills to devise sustainable solutions across sectors like agri-food, agriculture, and clean technology. At the end of the workshop, participants will learn to make informed decisions, apply methodologies, and enhance their creative and analytical thinking abilities.
Expected Deliverables
- Sessions outline activities and learning materials for the session.
- Engaging and interactive workshop sessions that cater to the learning needs of rural youth and encourage active participation.
- Support materials, such as templates and resources, are available for participants to use during and after the workshops.
- Guidance on selecting and utilizing appropriate tools and techniques for design thinking in the specified domains (agrifoodtech, and cleantech).
- Final report is to be submitted to Michel Daher Social Foundation, including participant feedback and progress.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in facilitating design thinking workshops or How to create your Own business Workshops preferably in rural or community settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in agrifoodtech, and cleantech concepts, and a keen understanding of the associated challenges and opportunities.
- Strong background in human-centered design methodologies, with a focus on empathetic problem-solving.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with and inspire diverse groups of youth.
- Proven track record of fostering innovation, ideally within rural or grassroots contexts.
- Availability to conduct a series of workshops over one online workshop and 2 days of workshops at Michel Daher Foundation, Ferzol Bekaa
How to apply
Step 1: Prepare your Bid Documents
Submit the following:
- Technical Proposal:
Outline your approach for delivering the “How to Create Your Own Business” workshop, including curriculum details and activities. Describe your methodology for engaging rural youth, particularly in the agrifoodtech and cleantech sectors, and how you will
incorporate design thinking into the workshop. Highlight your experience working with youth or vulnerable groups and your approach to supporting them through the workshop. Include relevant experience working with NGOs or community organizations.
- Financial Proposal:
Provide a breakdown of your total offer in USD, including session rates, travel, accommodation, and any other expenses. Outline the payment structure based on key deliverables (e.g., upon signing the contract, completion of the workshop, and submission of the final report).

Step 2: Submit Your Bid
- Email your complete bid to: procurement@daherfoundation.org by February 17, 2025.
- The subject line must include the TOR title: "How to Create Your Own Business Trainer" Incomplete submissions or those without the correct subject line will not be considered.

Step 3: Offer Validity
Your offer must remain valid for 60 days from the submission deadline. You may be contacted for clarifications or further discussions during this time.
Step 4: Payment Terms
- Payment will be made via bank transfer or Telegraphic Transfer (TT) within 30 working days after deliverables are met.
- Payment will be processed after approval of the final workshop and report.
- Note: Without a valid MOF certificate, tax deductions of 3.4% on goods and 8.5% on services will apply, according to articles number 41 and 42 of the income tax law.
Step 5: Evaluation
Proposals will be evaluated based on:
- Technical (60%): Methodology, curriculum, experience with youth, and engagement approach for the agrifoodtech and cleantech sectors.
- Financial (40%): Cost-effectiveness and competitiveness.
