Basmeh & Zeitooneh is a registered Lebanese organization, committed to serving refugees and vulnerable communities in Lebanon, through four community centers across the country. The organization runs educational, relief, livelihoods, and protection programs, and aims to serve as an inclusive and supportive focal point for the entire community.

About the Civil Society Enablement unit:

The CSEU at Basmeh & Zeitooneh, started in 2018 with the aim to develop the capacities of local community-based organizations, civil society organizations and initiatives to enhance their skills and provide them with the necessary support that addresses community issues and focuses on enhancing awareness, and empowering individuals and groups in civil society.

About the project:

YouLead Project targets 12 youth-led CSOs or working with youth with intensive and tailor-made capacity strengthening training. Training packages include civic topics, social media, and cybersecurity.  The trained organizations are able to work more efficiently with community members, in terms of advocating for their rights and mobilizing community members to influence the decision-making process.

To reach this aim, The civil society enablement unit at Basmeh & Zeitooneh is calling for trainers to join the Civil Society Localization project to develop and empower civil society actors by providing professional training and coaching through an in-depth analysis of the needs of civil society organizations and the continuous follow-up of these organizations during the training period, to enhance their ability to develop, operate and implement projects that address their target areas’ needs and strengthen their capacities and play an active role in their communities.

Training topics:

  • Human rights and democracy
  • Citizenship and political participation
  • Social Capital 
  • Community mobilization and youth engagement
  • Governance

Each topic consists of 4 training days. The trainers will work together with the Basmeh & Zeitooneh team in: 

  • The preparation of the training Materials (Curricula, presentation, a Pre-Post test form to evaluate the participants level of knowledge, and any relevant document) ...
  • Run and facilitate the training sessions
  • Run and Facilitate peer-to-peer coaching sessions as per participants' needs
  • Prepare a report setting out the main lessons shared during the sessions.
  • Prepare a report on the participants' interaction and the problems they raised through the training sessions. The report will conclude by highlighting topics that need additional training in the future.

Experience: 

  • 3-5 years of experience, whether in private, public, or in civil society organizations.
  • Previous experience in the development sectors (such as in livelihood, protection, education, etc.) is a plus, especially in start-up and small community-based organizations.
  • Proven experience as a trainer, and previous experience in business training is a plus
  • Working experience in a multicultural context

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Arabic language (oral/written) mandatory
  • Ability to communicate in English
  • Good ability to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Adapted to multinational teams
  • Ability to multitask

Trainers are expected to be available as of February. Please note that these are projected dates for scheduling purposes subject to further clarification on the specific dates of each training.
