ABOUT THE PROJECT

This project will aim at promoting active and inclusive citizenship particularly amongst the country’s civil society and future change-makers: youth. This will contribute to advancing gender equality and will be achieved by engaging and capacitating youth and CSOs to take part in reformative grassroots-level movements. By fostering and consolidating essential allyships within local communities, a multi-stakeholders approach is cultivated with the goal of advocating for essential reform, combatting GBV, and forging violence-free societies.

 

 

OVERALL GOAL OF THIS ASSIGNMENT

 

The consultant will be required to develop a training curriculum on movement building, tailored for civil society organizations and youth in all their diversity. They will be expected to design interactive learning modules that will support recipients in coming together around shared struggles, strategizing, building relationships that last, and developing a deeper understanding of how sustainable change is generated.

 

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The consultant will be required to:

  • Hold bilateral meetings with ABAAD staff to establish a clear understanding of the intervention’s desired outcomes and overall strategy;
  • Employ the baseline study developed by ABAAD on the link between active citizenship and gender equality to ensure the curriculum that will be developed directly responds to gaps identified by the produced research;
  • Develop a training curriculum on community mobilization aimed at CSOs and local youth that relies on a participatory and active learning approach which will cover the following:

 

    • An in-depth overview of community mobilization as a concept, its definition, and participatory approaches and skills;
    • Providing tools to identify community needs and accordingly develop corresponding strategic goals;
    • Activate and organize diverse groups of people, organizations, and coalitions to recognize a shared vision.
    • Strengthen connections across people, organizations, sectors, and issues so that they can work together to coordinate and align activism and advocacy.
    • Provide resources to organizers, build a strong pipeline of leaders, and amplify their messages. 
    • Conducting field exercises to be revisited in follow up refresher;
    • Exploring the link between community mobilization, ownership and sustainability.

 

  • Capacitate 20 ABAAD staff members through a ToT enabling them to deploy the toolkit amongst target populations;
  • Submit a final report detailing the methodology used, the main outcomes of the training sessions, its primary achievements, challenges and any success stories that may have been identified throughout the process;

 

 

SKILLS REQUIRED

 

  • Applicant is required to have a BA or MA in social sciences, psychology, or other related fields;
  • Applicant must have experience working in the humanitarian sector –particularly engaging and mobilizing local communities (experience working with youth is desirable);
  • Applicant must have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the local context in Lebanon;
  • Applicant must possess excellent communication skills in Arabic;
  • Applicant must have experience working in culturally sensitive contexts.
