About ABAAD  

 

ABAAD– Resource Center for Gender Equality is a UN ECOSOC accredited organization that aims to achieve gender equality as an essential condition to sustainable social and economic development in the MENA region.  

ABAAD advocates for the development and implementation of policies and laws that enhance women’s effective participation, through a rights-based approach that would bring about tangible change to gender justice. 

With the purpose of ending gender-based violence, ABAAD adopts a holistic care approach to provide protection and support services to GBV survivors/right holders during times of peace, war and disasters since 2011. 

 

About the project

Lebanon has been facing multiple crisis since 2020; from socioeconomic deteriorations, to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Beirut Blast. The collective impact has increased women and girls’ vulnerabilities and risks of gender-based violence (GBV).

To address this, ABAAD is implementing a project, that aims at improving access of women and girl survivors of and/or at-risk of GBV to holistic prevention and response services in Lebanon’s North, Bekaa, and Mount Lebanon regions. The project includes a certain number of psychosocial activities to be disseminated to GBV survivors hosted in ABAAD’s safe shelters.

 

 

Overall goal of this assignment  

The overall goal of this assignment is to provide dance therapy training sessions in ABAAD’s safe shelters in the three different regions.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities  

  •   Preparing and leading the training consisting of 41 sessions in total divided equally for the 3 locations (13.5 sessions per location / 75-90 minutes per session)
  •   Preparing materials/tools needed for the training
  •  Sharing with the project team the schedule describing the main objective of each session and including a brief on what will be taught in each session;
  •  Sharing with the project team the relevant training tools, materials, and methodology to be used during the sessions via technical proposal to ensure these are culturally acceptable by the targeted population;
  •  Providing progress reports inclusive of attendance sheets and to provide support in the application of the quality assurance procedures on a weekly basis in close coordination with the project team mainly the project coordinator – through: assessing the satisfaction of targeted beneficiaries using the satisfaction survey, facilitating complaint mechanism procedures through informing the targeted population of the complaint cycle procedures, assessing impact of the provided activities through using MEAL tools, such as pre-post-tests, evaluation forms, etc.

 

 

 

 

Skills required 

  •   Previous experience in the development sectors (such as in livelihood, protection, education etc.) is a plus, especially start-up and small community-based organizations.
  • preferable to have GBV background, if not, at least an experience in providing PSS activities
  • Proven experience as a trainer, previous experience in therapy through art training is a plus (to provide previous contracts, purchase orders, certificates of completion)
  • Working experience with local or international NGOs.
  • Previous knowledge of the cultural aspects (norms, traditions and beliefs) related to most vulnerable population in Lebanon (including Syrian, and Palestinian refugees and host communities)
