Learning on Feminist Mentorship in Practice: Approaches and Methods

We strive to be a flexible and reliable partner for women’s rights organizations in these contexts, supporting them to adapt their work to the state of conflict and emergencies. 

 

Background
This component falls under the project titled Feminist Creative Art Therapy for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Survivors in Emergency, Crisis, and Conflict. Our initiative aims to enhance the effectiveness of psychosocial support for GBV survivors across the region. We focus on the mentoring and coaching of practitioners in feminist art therapy interventions, empowering them with innovative tools and methodologies to aid in the recovery and support of GBV survivors.

Scope of the Call
We are seeking an experienced individual or company with profound expertise in feminist mentorship to contribute to our project. The selected applicant will play a crucial role in guiding our practitioners through the nuances of feminist mentorship, capacity building, and peer learning ensuring that our approaches are inclusive, empowering, and sensitive.

Objectives

  • To Develop Feminist Mentorship Framework: Establish understanding and analysis of feminist mentorship, and create robust mentorship framework that integrate feminist principles, aiming to guide project participants
  • To Train Participants in Feminist Mentorship: Conduct in-depth training sessions for art therapists and GBV practitioners, focusing on the application of feminist theories and practices within the project and their work.
  • To Foster a Supportive Learning Environment: Establish a nurturing and empowering learning atmosphere that encourages the exchange of ideas, experiences, and feminist methodologies.

Key Responsibilities/Deliverables:

  • Conduct and facilitate half a day workshop online for all project participants tackling the approaches and methods of feminist mentoring in practice. This workshop will serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, skill development, and the strengthening of a feminist mentorship concepts among practitioners.

Timeline

  • Mid May 2024, exact date to be conveyed after selection
  • Trainings to be conducted over the course of one working day

 

Qualifications

The consultant(s) should meet the desired criteria: 

  • Knowledge of feminist pedagogy, training techniques and mentorship, 
  • Knowledge in intersectional feminist concepts and analyses, 
  • Ability to facilitate dialogue, learning and collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders and leadership styles, 
  • Professional experience working with women’s rights organizations,  
  • Professional experience in conducting similar work is preferable, 
  • Full proficiency in spoken and written English; Arabic is an added value  
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines in a professional manner, 
  • Great communication skills, 
  • Organized and timely, 
  • Creative in overcoming barriers and ability to coordinate with multiple entities.
