UPEL is seeking to recruit an experienced Strategic communication consultant

  1. Work closely with main stakeholder of UPEL to determine the communication requirements that must be met to support the objectives of UPEL’s strategy
  2.  Assess the communication capacities of UPEL
  3.  propose the use of various types of media products, in print and electronic, that can be beneficial to UPEL’s scope of work
  4.  Prepare a list of the resource needs (human and financial) and estimated implementation budget
  5. Develop drafts for regional communications and advocacy strategy and associated presentation materials for discussion with key global, regional and national stakeholders.
  6. Finalise strategy development based on feedback and input from key stakeholders.
  7. Develop action plan for implementing regional communications and advocacy strategy.

 Advanced University degree in journalism, communication, international relations, political or social sciences, human rights, or comparable academic qualifications or equivalent work experience.  At least 5 years of progressively advanced experience in strategic communications, which must include developing communications and advocacy strategies at the global, regional or national level.  Excellent knowledge of English is required both verbal and written  Experience in conceptualizing and developing advocacy strategies and efficient and practical actions plans.  Critical thinking and ability to synthesize and interpret large amounts of information.  Ability to fostering open dialogue, building trust and engaging key stakeholders.  Experience of using analytical tools to inform strategic analysis.  Expertise in using MS Office software and carrying out research and data analysis.
