Objective of the Role:

The Career Counselor and Industry Relations Officer is responsible for guiding participants on how to search for and apply to jobs or internships suited for them. He/She will also be the liaison point with companies to secure participants an internship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Conduct one-on-one career counseling sessions in person.
•    Guide students through the completion of aptitude, personality, and adjacent tests.
•    Score students’ responses to pertinent items and confer with them about the results. 
•    Propose career-related options that are congruent with substantiated insights.
•    Inform students about potential shortcomings in their skill sets and devise strategies to remedy these.
•    Walk students through the process of compiling and restructuring their resumes.
•    Inform students of potentially helpful career-related opportunities.
•    Ensure that all students’ skills are shaped in the correct direction towards an income-generating opportunity.
•    Be the focal point for companies/organizations that will offer internships to students.
•    Be the focal point for interns; following up on their attendance, work, and progress within each internship.
•    Research to match the best company/intern contract.
•    Prepare and implement the employers' outreach plan, and report to the project coordinator the progress of each intern.
•    Prepare monthly reports on the progress of the students, challenges, and changes.

Competencies and Skills:

•    Master's degree in Counseling, Career Development, or a related field.
•    Proven experience as a Career Counselor or in a similar role.
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
•    Knowledge of career development theories and counseling techniques.
•    Familiarity with various industries and job markets.
•    Ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust with clients.
