Arabic Teacher

Working with children ages 3-14yrs old with various backgrounds of abuse, neglect, and limited previous school exposure.

Teaching subjects focusing on Arabic,

Early Childhood Education (aged 3 – 5) classes;
Basic Literacy and Numeracy (ages 10 – 14) classes;

Position reports to: Project Manager and Education supervisor

Position in the center: S/he collaborates closely with other teachers and Education supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

Teachers are in charge of:

1. Plans, prepares and delivers instructional activities appropriate to the needs of the individual students entrusted to his/her care. These should allow for active learning and be developmentally appropriate/
2. Communicates clear objectives for all learning activities.
3. Prepares classroom for class activities and provide a variety of learning materials and resources in educational activities including the use of relevant technology to support instruction.
4. Utilizes a range of instructional methods to meet students' varying needs and meet learning objective.
5. Evaluates student's learning and development using appropriate methodologies. Provides feedback on learning which enables students to make further progress with their learning.
6. Maintains accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
7. Creates a comfortable and safe environment for each child and manages student behavior in the classroom by establishing age-appropriate rules which uphold the rights and dignity of the child.
8. Adheres to SB OverSeas child protection policies and codes of conduct.
9. Supports students’ socioemotional development and provides encouragement and emotional support as needed
10. Participates in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs.
11. Attends and contributes towards staff meetings as well as professional development days
12. Maintains ongoing and positive communication with students and colleagues regarding student progress needs.
13. Keep updated with developments in education, teaching resources, and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
14. Refers children to the center Psychologist (for behavioral or socioemotional support) or to Education Supervisors (for extra lessons) when required.

Education:

• University Degree in education or relevnt majors.

Competencies: (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

• Previous teaching experience
• Education in primary education is a bonus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office - word processing, spread sheets, etc.
• Experience working with children from difficult backgrounds
• Ability to manage classroom behavior with students who can be challenging. 
• Ability to create new and adapt current curriculum that is engaging and relevant for our students 

Languages:

• Fluency in Arabic.
