Call for Applications: Point of View 2024 Program

Please consider applying to join the first and second groups only if you:

• Are between 18 and 25 years old
• Are a current university student
• Are interested in learning or reviewing the principles and basics of debate
• Are seriously interested in analyzing social issues and discussing public policy
• Have strong oral and written communication skills in Arabic
• Are willing to commit to the highest standards of efficiency, professional ethics, and respect for colleagues during the program
• Are able to commit to the training program days (Friday and Saturday) during the months of May, June, and July
• Are able to participate in most of the program's additional activities (public debates in unions and in the Lebanese Parliament)

Your chances of being accepted into the second group (advanced) will increase if you:

• Are familiar with the structure of public policy debate in particular
• Have previously undergone debate training, whether at Smart or any other recognized institution
• Participated in the POV 2023 program and expressed interest in becoming a debate trainer
• Are a member of the debate clubs at your university

If selected, all applicants must be prepared to conduct a virtual interview if necessary.

The POV 2024 program consists of training sessions, public debates to be held in unions and the Lebanese Parliament, followed by group discussion sessions. The program includes a mock competition where trainees compete in regular debates.

• Training program schedule: During May, June, and July 2024
• Training sessions are held in person at the Smart Center in Dkouane.

Transportation costs are covered by a small financial contribution (at the cost of public transportation, not private car or taxi).

Upon completion of the course, each participant will receive a certificate.
