About the Project 

This project is a four-year project aiming to strengthen women and youth’s meaningful, enduring participation in advancing inclusive peace and security in the Levant and Yemen. This will be achieved through (i) consolidating women’s rights organisations (WRO) and youth-led organisations (YLOs’) strategic engagement and influence in municipal and national peace and reconciliation processes; (ii) motivating (sub)national institutions to strengthen inclusive policies and standards facilitating women and youth’s participation in peace and security processes; and (iii) promoting shifts in social norms around women and youth’s meaningful inclusion in peace and security at all levels. 

 

Position Summary

Search is seeking to hire ten data collectors (two data collectors in each governorate; Beirut, Mount Lebanon, Bekaa, South, North) in Lebanon to support a mapping of civil society organizations (CSOs), peacebuilding initiatives, and key institutional actors on a national level. 

They will work under the direct supervision of the research consultant and in close coordination with the MEAL and project team.

The position holder will more specifically have the following Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Roles and Responsibilities

In close collaboration with the Beirut-based project and MEAL team, the data collectors will be expected to:

Key Area 1: Attend required training sessions on the research methodology and tools.

Key Area 2: Contribute to identifying and reaching out to the relevant people for the surveys and Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) in the targeted areas. 

Key Area 3: Conduct Surveys and KIIs with different target population groups, women, youth and institutional actors. The Surveys and KIIs will help us identify civil society organizations (CSOs), peacebuilding initiatives, and key institutional actors. 

Key Area 4: The data collector should ensure that the quantitative data is clean and the KIIs are transcribed and translated to English. 

Key Area 5: Maintain a regular oral and written communication with the Research consultant on the progress of data collection.

Key Area 6: Update the Research consultant on dynamics and challenges on the ground.

 

Deliverables 

The DC is responsible for submitting the raw data of the surveys and the KIIs transcripts in English to the Research consultant and MEAL team immediately following the data collection. The Research consultant and the MEAL team will review the raw data to check the quality and provide feedback accordingly.

 

Work will be paid based on achievements of quality deliverables

 

Required Profile 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in sociology, psychology, political sciences or any related field;
  • Experience with research methods and tools, especially utilizing qualitative research methods such as FGDs.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience in working with NGOs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills in Arabic;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English;
  • Very good computer skills including using Word and Excel; and
  • Ability to conduct Surveys and Interviews on sensitive topics such as local tensions and conflict lines;Demonstrated understanding of the concept of confidentiality, data safety, etc.
