1. About NAHNOO

NAHNOO is a Lebanese registered Non-Governmental Organization working since 2009 as a research and advocacy platform for participatory policymaking, towards an inclusive society in Lebanon. The NGO rallies volunteers across Lebanon and through multidisciplinary and participatory research, capacity-building workshops, and grassroots activities, we provide a platform for youth and professionals to lead the planning and implementation of advocacy campaigns and gain the skills needed to impact policy-making at the local and national levels.

2. Role Description & Background

NAHNOO has been implementing the “Community Cultural Public Space Activation” project in Bourj Hammoud, as an art scene for the right to express in a participatory way. After completing the first phase in 2020-2021, NAHNOO will pursue its artistic project during 2022 by keeping on discovering and equipping some of the unused squares into public spaces ready to receive and implement various artistic and social works , while involving the community in all stages of preparation.

Therefore, NAHNOO is looking for a coordinator to this project as well as other initiatives by NAHNOO within its Arts and Cultural Heritage program. Our preference goes to:

- Residents from Bourj Hammoud and around.

- Female and male artists with experience in the field of cultural management and programming.

- Individuals who plan to keep working in Lebanon for the long-term

In addition, the Project Coordinator (PC) will be in charge of managing the volunteers participating in the various projects. A main aspect of the job is on-the-ground coordination and administrative work, engagement with the communities, and close work with the experts on the projects in cooperation with the relevant Program Director. The PC handles on-site operations/activities & logistics, administrative tasks such as procurement, and involved human resources (experts, volunteers etc), community relations & representation and ensures safety & security of staff & beneficiaries.

The PC ensures that project implementation & outputs are conducted smoothly with the efficient participation and distribution of NAHNOO’s team, following NAHNOO’s values & strategy, donor standards & requirements and local laws.

 

3. Key Responsibilities

  • Availability and commitment on full-time basis with flexibility to work during weekends (based on 5-days week).
  • Supports “Arts & Cultural Heritage Program Director” in addressing programmatic challenges in the framework of his/her assigned project
  • Coordinates & assists the implementation of needs assessment research in in various areas in Lebanon (community-based)
  • Ensures project is contributing a significant impact through on-the-ground monitoring by collecting the necessary data
  • Produces accurate, analytical and timely reporting of activities & project status throughout its life cycle to the Grants Department (through narrative reports & various illustrative deliverable)
  • Together with the Programs Director and the Grants Department:

- Participates in project evaluation to assess project progress & impact (based on set indicators), beneficiary feedback and & resource effective use.

- Identifies challenges & corrective actions required and captures learning/lessons learned

- Supports oversight & monitoring of team members operating in assigned areas

  • Ensures accountable and efficient systems are in place for the implementation of project (example: workplan, activity reports…)
  • Supports the management of project budgets by calendaring it and assisting the Procurement officer in drawing a procurement plan efficiently
  • Facilitate communication with participants, local communities, stakeholders and any project partners by establishing and maintaining positive relations (local community members, Government officials, municipalities, other NGOs etc)
  • Engage local communities in participating actively in the project
  • Plan & organize the preparation of assigned project activities, meetings & events
  • Follow up requirements of grants with Grants Manager (visibility, deliverable, financial etc)

 

4. Position Requirements

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in artistic/cultural non-profit organizations in cultural management and programming
  • Proven experience in field coordination, planning of program activities and community engagement
  • Proven experience in facilitating peace building, conflict resolution & sensitivity and similar fields by working in multicultural & diverse environments
  • Computer literate, including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, graphic software applications such as Photoshop & Illustrator
  • Fluent in Arabic and English (oral and written)
  • Excellent interpersonal, team working and communication skills with ability to mobilize local communities and organize local events
  • Ability to bear very flexible working hours, including attending evening meetings in implementation areas and during weekends (depending on the beneficiaries i.e local authorities & actors schedule)
