Global Call for Videographers/Video Animation Producers

Our goal is to empower victims and survivors to identify and articulate their rights and their justice needs, reduce impunity and increase accountability, supporting victims to advocate for victim-centered truth seeking and justice and assist them to select the appropriate mechanisms; as well as set the standard for a creative, inclusive and responsive justice approaches in addressing sexual violence against the most vulnerable in fragile and conflict affected contexts. 

LAW is currently seeking experienced and skilled videographers and video animator producers to collaborate on producing engaging videos and documentaries as part of our advocacy and awareness-raising initiatives across various thematic and project areas. You will possess exceptional artistic talent and expertise in video-making, documentary-making, or animation videography. You will also play a crucial role in advancing LAW's mission to bring justice to those who need it most through compelling storytelling and animation. LAW will offer work on a consultancy framework agreement to support ad hoc assignments.  

Assignments with LAW will entail multifaceted responsibilities aimed at producing impactful and culturally sensitive visual content that amplifies LAW's advocacy efforts on issues related to sexual violence in conflict zones.  

 

CONSULTANCY DESCRIPTION   

 

Reports to: Programme Manager and Communications Manager  

Location: The consultant will be working remotely and can be based in multiple locations: Geneva, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Somalia, South Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia 

Duration: Specific assignments will vary and be commissioned under a 12-month Framework Agreement. Flexible, (exact schedules and dates to be discussed and agreed).  

 

Key Deliverables:  

Videographer:  

Proficient use of professional video cameras and equipment. 

Professional knowledge of technical requirements for filming in various settings: outdoor, indoor, conferences, and group activities. 

Mastery of composition, lighting, and framing techniques. 

Technical ability and skill to creatively conceal the identity of the subject where necessary is an asset. 

Advanced knowledge of videographic post-production tools and software. 

Ability to write captions, shortlist and detailed metadata for videos in English; captions should be embedded in the JPEG images. 

Advanced fluency English; proficiency in a second language is an asset. 

Experience using Content Management Systems (CMS) is a plus.  

Video Animation Specialists 

Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and experience in animation video production, encompassing various styles and techniques. 

Showcase proven experience in producing animated videos, with a strong portfolio demonstrating proficiency in animation and storytelling, especially around topics covering humanitarian crisis, international human rights or access to justice issues. Experience working on sensitive topics such as sexual violence and conflict-related sexual violence preferred. 

Technical capacities (Human resources and equipment) to ensure smooth, on time and high-quality production; 

Clear articulation of capacity and skill, and innovative approaches to carry out the assignment; 

Ability to understand complex issues as well as demonstrated capacity to translate complex subject matters into engaging and audience friendly communication materials; 

Experience working with Government, UN agency and other non-government organizations;  

Maintain exceptional work ethics dedication to the project 

Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and confidential matters and information especially personal information of vulnerable individuals, survivors, victims, and witnesses 

 

Experience and Skills required: 

5 years of experience in producing videos, documentaries/animated videos (film and edit), preferably for international organizations and/or NGOs operating in the humanitarian and international development cooperation sectors. 

Experience in filming stories/producing animated content relating to human rights issues, including sensitive issues, such as conflict-related sexual gender-based violence is an asset. 

 

Other requirements: 

Videographer should use his/her own professional equipment for filming and video editing/processing. 

Videographer should travel to a different destination for filming purposes, if required by the project and as per the project agreement. 

Videographer will abide with LAW’s copyright rules and regulations.
