Organizational Development Specialist

You will:

 

1. Assess individual partners’ existing capabilities to carry out effective strategic advocacy projects and activities to increase acceptance of LGBTQI rights in the region, in particular examine:

- Current organizational structure and capabilities to carry out advocacy work by each partner including digital advocacy projects.

- Current skill profiles within the organization that are or can be utilized to carry out advocacy work including digital advocacy projects.

- Current organizational challenges that may hinder effective advocacy work.

- Training and development needs in relation to the above

 

2. Assess partners capacities and abilities to effectively engage in alliance building and strategic regional advocacy campaigns by examining:

- Partners’ existing and previous experience working as part of an alliance with focus on challenges and opportunities for success.

- Partners’ expectations of engaging with Etihad as a potential regional platform for advocacy and how they see this benefiting their local efforts.

- Partner’s expectations of the shape and format of this alliance and how it can be sustained beyond the current project.

- Partner’s views on digital advocacy and how it can complement traditional advocacy.

- Any collective development and skills gaps that should be addressed in order to ensure the alliance can be sustained such as strategic planning, consensus building and aligning priorities to serve larger goals.

- Making appropriate recommendations for the shape and format of the alliance and the capacity development needs to be addressed to ensure suitability.

 

3. Produce a final report with clear description of findings and recommendations containing:

- A brief profile of each partner’s existing capabilities and development needs

- An analysis of overall assessment results as in 1 and 2.

- Recommendations for capacity and skills development as in 1 and 2.

 

The successful candidate will have:

- 7+ years’ experience in organizational development working with civil society groups in the MENA region

- Experience working with advocacy groups

- Experience working with LGBTQI groups in the MENA region

- Knowledge of the current LGBTQI landscape and challenges, with active participation in the field being beneficial.

- Ability to design appropriate tools to carry out organizational and skills assessment remotely.

- Excellent communication skills.

- Ability to work on sensitive issues, and with vulnerable communities

- Fluency in English

- Fluency in Arabic is highly desired.
