Tasks and Responsibilities:

Preserving biodiversity in the reserve and ensuring its sustainability.

Monitoring the reserve, whether for visitor management or its biodiversity.

Conducting surveillance activities to protect the reserve from encroachments around the clock, including but not limited to

i. Prohibiting the entry of animals (alien to the reserve).

ii. Prohibiting the introduction of any materials or machinery that may affect the reserve (loud musical instruments, charcoal, cutting tools...).

iii. Prohibiting picking, cutting, or collecting any produce from the reserve.

iv. Prohibiting hunting entirely.

v. Restricting access to the scientific area only to license holders approved by the committee.

Maintaining good social, scientific, and/or security relations with all stakeholders involved in the reserve (decision makers & stakeholders).

Continuous field presence in the natural reserve and overseeing its operations.

Performing fieldwork as per the reserve's requirements (maintenance of trails, fencing, combating agricultural pests, installation of directional signs...).

Preserving facilities and equipment within the reserve (bird observation huts, visitor center...).

Proposing and organizing activities that contribute to raising awareness and providing guidance on the importance of the natural reserve and participating in its implementation.

Contributing to the preparation of annual work plans, reserve management plans, policies, and strategies in collaboration with the reserve manager.

Participating in drafting regulations outlining the obstacles facing the reserve and proposing appropriate solutions.

Implementing annual work plans and reserve management plans in collaboration with the reserve team.

Conducting monitoring activities, whether related to biodiversity or socio-economic indicators.

Collecting and documenting all information related to natural reserves, using computers for storage, from various sources (libraries, universities, websites, researchers' reports, expert opinions...) and making it available to the team for utilization.

Attending meetings, sessions, and workshops assigned by the reserve manager and/or the reserve committee and/or the Ministry of Environment.

Participating in visits to other reserves based on programs developed by the Ministry of Environment and/or the reserve manager and/or the reserve committee.

Implementing the provisions of international agreements signed by Lebanon related to natural reserve management (Ramsar Convention, biodiversity...) within its capabilities and jurisdiction.

Collaborating with the reserve manager to strengthen relations with local and international environmental organizations.

Collaborating with the reserve manager to develop and enhance financial resources for the reserve.

Maintaining constant coordination with the reserve manager and adhering to the instructions issued by them in the public interest.

Supervising the cleanliness of the natural reserve and participating in clean-up campaigns organized by the reserve committee and/or the reserve team.

Adhering to environmental behavior in the natural reserve.

Accompanying researchers and trainers and assisting them during their tasks by providing necessary information.

Accompanying visitors and guests, explaining the features of the natural reserve, and emphasizing adherence to environmental behavior, including:

i. Visiting reserves only during authorized times and locations.

ii. Protecting plants and wildlife, refraining from picking flowers or damaging trees, and preventing hunting or setting traps for animals.

iii. Staying on designated walking paths.

iv. Exercising caution to prevent fires, refraining from lighting fires in campsites, and disposing of cigarettes properly. v. Enjoying peace and quiet and refraining from making noise.

vi. Refraining from littering in the reserve. vii. Following the instructions of the reserve team.

Enforcing security and regulations within the reserve, warning violators and trespassers to respect the reserve's establishment law and management regulations.

Reporting violations and encroachments on the reserve to higher-ranking authorities if violators and trespassers fail to comply with instructions or if violations or encroachments recur.

Submitting detailed reports on work progress, whether positive or negative, to the manager and submitting exceptional reports on any violations as necessary.

Organizing files, maps, and drawings.

Performing additional tasks assigned by the reserve manager and/or the reserve committee and/or the Ministry of Environment.

Not delegating tasks to anyone else.

Submitting reports on all completed tasks every six months to the team manager.

Assisting in preparing an annual report for the reserve to be submitted to the reserve manager.

Ensuring a minimum of 40 hours of work per week.

Committing to a sense of responsibility, avoiding negligence, and adhering to a spirit of cooperation with other team members.
