About the Hariri Foundation (HF):

The Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development is a Lebanese non-governmental organization with special consultative status in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Tha Hariri Foundation is dedicated to sustainable development across various sectors, including Education & Training, Public Health, Community Support, Urban Development, and Environment & Agriculture. HF operates in partnership with stakeholders to promote citizen engagement, social cohesion, and community resilience.

 

Project Overview:

The Hariri Foundation is calling for an expert in Solid Waste Management, particularly technical and social behavioral aspects of sorting at source, for a short-term consultancy. In line with the Roadmap of Saida Towards an Environmentally Sustainable City, the foundation aims to pilot and mainstream innovative sorting at source solutions within the Saida region. The pilot requires the development of a feasibility study and plan of action for the upgrade and operations of a local recyclables sorting facility. The pilot also requires the development and delivery of training curricula and tools for building awareness and mainstreaming relevant sustainable practices among citizens and institutions.

 

Requirements:

General:

  • Coordinate work with the assigned personnel from the Hariri Foundation.
  • Liaise and coordinate with agreed stakeholders on matters related to the pilot.

Deliverables:

  1. Baseline Document based on a Local Assessment
  2. Project Scope and Feasibility Study (including Business Model, Cash Flow Analysis, Sensitivity Analysis, Risk Log)
  3. Operational Model with clear SOPs
  4. Master Plan Document (growth and scale-up plan, expected timeline to achieve required project scope)
  5. Interactive Training toolkit (introducing the initiative and project, raising awareness and anticipation, providing tools and knowledge on how to sort/recycle)
  6. Three Capacity Building sessions based on the the developed toolkit (including addressing stakeholders’ questions and concerns)
  7. Master Plan Update (Findings & Learnings following the stakeholders' engagement)

Qualifications:

  • A professional in solid waste management and local governance within the context of the Lebanese Municipal Law.
  • Previous experience in Sorting at Source initiatives, programs, and facilities planning and operations.
  • Previous experience in the development and delivery of Capacity Building toolkits on solid waste management to diverse target audiences.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the field.
