Call for Application - Core Mediation Training From 13 to 17 January 2020

As part of forumZFD capacity development programme, forumZFD in partnership with Result Mediation invites you to apply for the Core Mediation Training 13-17 January 2020 led by Elsbeth Snieders and Felix Merks.

Then this training might be relevant for you:

Mediation skills can support you in navigating constructively through conflicts and develop further your potential to deal with and learn from them.  During the five days workshop,you will learn how to find ways to transform conflict dynamics in the community around you, enhance bridge building between split communities, and help develop processes for dealing with arising and existing conflicts. 

In cooperation with Result Mediation, forumZFD offers interested persons living in Lebanon the opportunity to apply for its five-day-Mediation workshop in January 2020. 

 

This training offers you: 

  • An understanding of everything needed to align differing interests and to bring parties together through mediation
  • Knowledge and tools on the basic attitude and skills of a mediator, including negotiation, seeing and understanding conflict dynamics
  • An interactive methodology including practical exercises and role-plays under the supervision of highly experienced mediators from Result Mediation
  • The opportunity to connect with others thinking this way

 

The Organisers:

Founded in 1996 in Germany, forumZFD (forum Civil Peace Service) is an organisation advocating for peace and non-violence with more than 80 employees working in Germany, the Middle East, the Western Balkans, and South-East Asia.
forumZFD has been active in Lebanon since 2009. Together with its partners, forumZFD develops local capacities within civil society and supports their projects for nonviolent conflict transformation. Currently, forumZFD’s work in Lebanon is framed under three programmes: Community Mobilizing, Dealing with the Past, and Capacity Development. With a growing portfolio of projects and partner organizations, forumZFD’s work has expanded to include training, coaching, mentoring, development of manuals and training material, as well as co-implementation of projects and activities. Result Mediation was established in 1998 and has become the largest mediation provider in the Netherlands, with more than 10.000 successful mediations done. As Result believes that there is a large need for improving the conflict management skills of people, Result not only provides mediations, but also gives courses and trainings in order to support more people to work more effectively on conflicts. Besides their trainings in the Netherlands, Result sees it as part of their social responsibility to support society at large. For every paid participant they train to become a professional mediator in the Netherlands they provide the same training for a professional/political and social activist living in a post- conflict area for free. Having the mediation/negotiation/conflict management knowledge and skills will enable these actors to engage in constructive dialogue and de-escalate conflict and negotiate better outcomes for all stakeholders involved. Please make sure you are available to attend the full 5 days. The training will take place outside Beirut (exact venue TBC) from the 13-17th of January 2020 (arrival on 12th evening). Accommodation in double-rooms, as well as full-board, will be covered by forumZFD.

The training will be held in English therefore, good proficiency in English is required.

Accepted candidates will be notified by December 16th at the latest.
