Trainer on soft skills and gender issues

Description: 

The trainer will be responsible for the preparation and delivery of a training on soft skills and gender issues for 500 Lebanese and Syrian farmers, youth and women. The participants will be divided in groups of 25 people, although adjustments will be made according to the situation related to COVID19 outbreak in order to ensure the safety of staff and beneficiaries. The activity will be part of a more comprehensive training that will also include a component on technical skills for the agricultural sector and a session on business development; the preparation of the training on soft skills and gender issues will be therefore developed together with the experts selected for the delivery of the other two components. Gender and soft skills training topics will include: social cohesion, creative thinking, effective communication, conflict resolution and gender awareness, gender power relation, leadership and women’ role in the workplace and household, decision-making power related to the food security, management of resources and benefit in communities, and similar topics. Training methodology must ensure the active participation of the attendees and include practical exercises.

Main duties and responsibilities of the trainer will include:

 

  • Preparation and delivery of the training sessions, in coordination with the Project Manager, the partners and the other experts/staff involved in the activity;
  • Preparation of the training materials;
  • Preparation of pre- and post- questionnaires for training evaluation;
  • Realization of a brief report of the training sessions once completed.

Final product/Deliverables:

 

  • Final training modules and programme
  • Training delivery
  • A report of the training workshop including an analysis of the participant’s evaluation forms and the materials used as appendices.

Competencies:

 

  • Knowledge of critical gender issues in the Lebanese context;
  • Superior skills in gender mainstreaming, analysis and monitoring;
  • Proven ability of planning and managing training programmes in related issues; 
  • Excellent communication skills (spoken, written and presentational);
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in and with teams;
  • Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively

Education and Experience:

 

  • Master’s degree in relevant social science discipline (preferably gender studies);
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field of gender and development;
  • Experience in Human Rights approach to programming and training;
  • Experience in participatory training and adult experiential learning techniques;
  • Ability to work in a team and under pressure and against deadlines;
  • Perfect knowledge of Arabic and good knowledge of English;
  • Knowledge and experience in gender issues and gender mainstreaming;

Additional requirements:

 

  • Negotiation, and communication skills combined with high degree of patience and cultural sensitivity;
  • Familiar with participatory approach, human rights and gender mainstreaming approach;
  • Highly organized and able to work both autonomously and in team;
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills;
  • Possess cross-cultural sensitivity, knowledge and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
