Context & Background

 

Berytech is a leading organization in the Entrepreneurial Eco-system in Lebanon, that aims to provide a conducive environment for the creation and development of startups, through incubation, business support, counseling, funding, networking, and company hosting, hence taking part in the economic revival of the country, participating in wealth and job creation, and retaining graduates and high-level skills in Lebanon.

 

The Accelerator Program's mission is to nurture and grow disruptive ideas, proof of concepts, and prototypes that share three common characteristics:

  1. A disruptive scientific or technological focus in the cleantech sector
  2. The possibility to scale beyond the local market
  3. The potential to create sustainable job opportunities locally

 

Scope of work

The Accelerator Program seeks an Environmental expert to deliver one 3-hour workshop on environmental Impact Assessment and 2 one-on-one sessions for 12 startups covering the following:

  • Key Benefits of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and their level of success
  • Advise the Startups on the best EIA framework
  • EIA clinics to provide startups with Environmental Impact advice on various topics (Upon request)
  • Deliver the General Principle of EIA
  • Deliver the EIA Process
  • Why do we conduct an EIA?
  • What is the outcome of an EIA?

 

Expected Deliverables

  • One 3-hour Workshop on Sustainability Environmental Impact Assessment
  • Two one-on-one sessions for 12 startups (total of 24 sessions), to be delivered between June 20 and July 15, 2024.
  • Workshop material (PowerPoint presentation)
  • Feedback on the progress of each startup after each clinic
  • Final report on each startup

Qualifications

  • Experience working with early-stage startups
  • Demonstrated expertise and practical experience in conducting Environmental Impact Assessments, particularly within the context of Cleantech projects.
  • Proven track record of delivering engaging workshops and providing tailored guidance to startup founders or entrepreneurs
  • Familiarity with the startup ecosystem and understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities faced by Cleantech startups.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively convey complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
