Part-Time Web Graphic Illustrator

The Arab Foundation for Freedoms and Equality (AFE) is an officially registered non-governmental organization based in Beirut, Lebanon. AFE focuses its efforts exclusively on Arab states across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). AFE supports grassroots activist groups and organizations (Regional Partners) that are working on a wide range of initiatives including human rights , gender and sexual and sexual health.

We are looking to hire a talented Illustrator to create high-quality artwork for a newly developed news portal. The web illustrator will work with AFE’s media department (GAB) and the web developer on designing and delivering visual content and will use creative skills to turn messages and ideas into appealing illustrations. AFE aims to establish strong partnership with its partners and audience by meeting its specific visibility and communication requirements through better designs and quality products. Also, to contribute to AFE’s effort to have better quality designs that follows AFE’s values and brand identity.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Implement AFE’s branding policy.
• Promote AFE’s gender-related values through visual material and follow AFE’s values.
• Brainstorming with the media department to come up with image ideas.
• Participate in design briefs with to identify the specifications and expectations.
• Preparing and designing rough draft illustrations according to specifications.
• Create different illustrative materials such as animation, presentations, and digital banners.
• Ensure that all publications, reports, and products are produced in line with AFE’s requirements/polices/values.
• Deliver creative and innovative ideas for print, electronic, web-based
• Improve and edit artwork, photos, charts, and other graphic elements.
• Work internally with the different program teams and with AFE’s partners to ensure high quality designs.
• Work closely with our web developer on producing proper visuals for the news portal.

Time Span

This is a part-time contract.

The selected candidate should provide AFE with 20 hours/ week.

Remuneration

AFE will be paying a gross amount of 1,200 $ (One Thousand Two hundred U.S Dollars Only)

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• BSc degree in Design, Visual Arts or relevant qualification
• Proven work experience as an Illustrator, Graphic Designer 
• Demonstrable portfolio of completed illustrations
• Hands-on experience with computer-aided design software
• Solid knowledge of image editing and digital sketching software, like Photoshop, InDesign and Adobe Illustrator
• Drawing skills with an attention to detail (both by hand and digital pen)
• Strong aesthetic and conceptual skills
• Ability to collaborate and meet deadlines.
• A talent for creativity.
• Understanding of marketing, production, website design, brand identity, and multimedia design.
• Show a clear and mature style of design, demonstrating an understanding of the communication requirements of NGOs.
• Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms.
