The CP caseworker will be responsible for providing social services ensuring alignment with key child protection principles including best interests of the child, confidentiality, do no harm, and child participation. The caseworker will work closely with at-risk children, at high risk of harm providing case management services in line with National Case Management Standard Operating procedures (SOPs), and Global minimum standards of child protection case management. The incumbent will work in Akkar inside Hadatha education centers conducting house visits, weekly and/or daily follow-up on program cases; He/She will also be responsible for closely coordinating with relevant external agencies for service provision and referrals to national mechanisms to report cases of children at high risk of harm as per the National SOPs to ensure the child’s best interests. Throughout the implementation of the program, the CP case worker will be committed to supporting the National system through coordination, exploring opportunities for collaboration, and information sharing on services, in addition to adhering to National policies, legal framework, etc.

Responsibilities:

1. Identify and assist individual cases either from internal teams, external agencies, or community services, conducting comprehensive psychosocial assessments considering various factors impacting their well-being.

2. Coordinate closely with key service providers for prompt referrals, ensuring seamless information sharing and follow-ups, while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in documenting cases.

3. Manage case-specific documentation, including profiling, referrals, and weekly reports, ensuring confidentiality, accuracy, and timely completion.

4. Monitor and track the outcomes of provided assistance, offering basic emotional support for urgent cases and conducting home visits with consent when necessary.

5. Develop precise case plans for high and medium-risk cases, defining outcomes and timeframes, while advocating for beneficiaries' access to essential resources and services from various institutions.

6. Map intervention area services, reporting relevant information to the Protection Officer, and implement comprehensive case management in adherence to defined procedures and tools.

7. Engage in additional activities such as recreational, psychosocial, or awareness programs upon supervisor request, and support organizing specific events or activities within or outside the centers.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

Minimum of 3 years sectoral (child protection) experience in a similar position

Experience working and communicating with Children

Excellent technical understanding of child protection and community-based approaches

Excellent technical understanding of child protection (especially case management) and community-based approaches

Excellent understanding of the case management including FTR process

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to prioritize tasks

Able to lead a team to achieve results

Flexibility and ability to work independently and in a team

Able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure

Able to operate in extremely harsh living and working environment

Gender awareness and sensitivity

Commitment to the aims and principles of SC. In particular, a good understanding of the SC mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support

Awareness of using positive discipline; an officer should never shout at, humiliate or hit children

 

Scope of Work:

Provide individual case management for children and provide ongoing support to families in accordance with all case management steps.

Apply the National SoPs for child protection case management, including the use of Best Interests Assessments (BiA) and Best Interests Determination (BiD) procedures when are requested or needed.

 Ensure the correct documentation and compilation of Case Management forms in accordance with all case management steps and related tools and procedures.

Ensure confidentiality of child protection case management data and information throughout the case management process, including referrals.

Ensure proper follow up on all actions to be considered for individual cases till achieving desired results.

Report the critical cases for final approval on the actions to be taken

Provide age-appropriate counseling to children and their families.

Respond to emergency cases and run the 24-hour helpline for urgent cases.

Communicate and coordinate with other caseworkers and service providers in order to advocate, collaborate and conduct (internal and external) referrals according to the best interests of children.

 Conduct Household visits after coordinating with the line manager

Ensure smooth collaboration with the PSS team.

Prepare progress monthly reports on cases of beneficiaries and on activities implemented.

 Update weekly the beneficiaries list.

Participate in training, conferences and attend meetings.
