Tasks, Duties and Responsibilites:

Responsibility #1: Implementation of Field Activities

  • Provide Emotional Support Group (ESG) sessions to GBV survivors. 
  • Refer cases to Amel and/or specialized mental health units.
  • Support in the implementation of recreational activities.
  • Provide analysis and reflection on survivors’ behaviors; technical input on specific behaviors of people followed by the case management team on the reasons and the needs for urgent intervention.
  • Abide by a community-based and human rights-based approach in the implementation of evidence-based interventions.
  • Participate in case conferences and meetings to discuss treatment plans and progress.
  • Develop a consistent and acceptable treatment plan with clear objectives in relevance to the need assessment with a logical and consistent timeframe that includes estimated dates for case evaluation, closure, and post-support check-up.
  • Organize, in coordination with the other team members, psychological oriented activities (PSS, group therapy, etc.).
  • Coordinating with a multi-disciplinary team including GBV caseworkers, social workers, and other team members to provide holistic care to beneficiaries.

Responsibility #2: Team support and MH development

  • Provide guidance and support to caseworkers in managing challenging situations and addressing vicarious trauma.
  • Assess the mental health needs of team members and develop strategies to promote resilience, prevent burnout, and enhance well-being.
  • Organize regular debriefing sessions and peer support groups for staff members to process emotions and share experiences.
  • Stay up to date on the latest research, best practices, and guidelines in the field of trauma-informed care and GBV interventions.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for staff members to enhance their understanding of mental health issues and improve their support skills.
  • Collaborate with external partners and experts to access resources and expand the organization's capacity to address mental health challenges.

Responsibility #3: Reporting and coordination

  • Report activities on technical data sheets
  • Report individual information in the personal file
  • Coordinate internally with the team members and Amel staff
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, partners, and other external services 
  • Participate in technical meetings for case study
  • Participate in routine team meetings such as daily briefings and weekly meeting
  • Participate in sessions and meetings with other Amel staff and with partner staff
  • Support in the development and implementation of activities (with external stakeholders and internally at Amel).
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualification, Skills and Requirements: 

  • A Bachelor’s in psychology with relevant specialization, MA in clinical psychology with a License to practice. 
  • At least two years of working experience with people at risk within psychotherapy
  • Knowledge of ​​mental health in complex emergencies (IASC guidelines, Psychological First Aid, mhGAP…)
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge about the predictable stresses of humanitarian aid work and practice to manage them
  • Previous experience in delivering training or facilitating peer-peer support activities
  • Excellent reporting skills
  • Excellent Arabic skills, English is preferred, French is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability for active listening, stress management, and dealing with difficult scenarios
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office- especially Microsoft Word and Excel (PowerPoint is a plus)
  • Previous experience in GBV
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skill and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism while providing services to beneficiaries or working with internal support staff.
  • Demonstrates ability to adhere to ethical considerations and principles about working with vulnerable populations.
