Position Summary

This position holder will coordinate and implement various activities under Search’s flagship projects in Lebanon. Search is supporting partners through a project to engage with IMs and their supporters on national and regional levels. Search’s role focuses on supporting a national platform which will bring together IMs from all over Lebanon. The platform will ensure the needed support is provided to IMs and their supporters, and  will allow for the practice of IM to become prominent and recognized within the country.

The project implementation consultant must ensure that activities are well planned and implemented in a manner that complies with Search’s start-up and close-out protocols as well as the donor’s requirements and procedures. He/She will monitor the financial health of the project through regular works plans and budget versus actual analyses. The consultant must also ensure quality narrative reporting of project activities.

In close collaboration with the DM&E department and Programme’s Team, the consultant will support the monitoring and evaluation activities related to the project. He/She will work closely with different departments within the Beirut office, the MENA team, as well as trainers and technical experts working on the project to ensure the deliverables are of high quality and delivered in a timely manner. Finally, the consultant will ensure proper and timely communication with the Search’s country team and maintain a positive and professional relationship through meetings, correspondence, and reporting. 

The position will be based in Beirut, with flexible office attendance requirements, and frequent travel to the field.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Support Search’s team in ensuring the quality, effectiveness, and ultimately the impact of Search’s ongoing project activities.

Support Search’s team in ensuring Search’s project activities are inclusive, and conflict and gender sensitive.

Supported by Search’s team, lead the planning of the project activities programmatically and logistically.

Ensure the continuous update of the project work-plan.

Work in close coordination with the finance team to ensure the proper financial planning is done and regularly follow up on the actual expenses versus the planned expenses.

Work in close coordination with the operations team to arrange for the needed logistics, tools, equipment, etc. needed for project implementation.

Issue purchase requests, payment requests, and other needed relevant documents in coordination with Search’s team as needed for the activities.

Draft ToRs for the required external consultants to be validated by Search’s team.

Support Search’s team in adapting activity design to digital and virtual methods.

Support Search’s team in regularly monitoring the quality, resonance, reach, and relevance of project activities by supporting the MEAL team in organizing reflection and learning meetings.

Follow up closely with trainers and coaches to ensure the submission of the needed deliverables in a timely manner based on the agreed requirements.

Keep track of contracts and their end dates, ensuring timely renewal of agreements and disbursement of payments. 

Closely collaborate with the MEAL team to ensure a monitoring system and monitoring and evaluation plan and system for the project.

Ensure the activities are well documented, programmatically and financially, by relevant staff.

Support Search’s team in producing activity and project reports that are drafted in a results-based manner, ensuring high quality, consistency, and completeness; and

Lead on communication with the network of IMs and other stakeholders to coordinate activities, provide updates, and share information.

Lead and facilitate bi-weekly update meetings with Search’s team.

Attend and participate in the update meetings organized by the project partners.

As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.

 

Deliverables

Monthly progress report detailing the progress in activities according to the approved work plan.

Monthly Invoice.

 

Timeline

This position will be needed from June 2024 to November 2024 (6 Months) for an average of 8 days per month.

The 8 days per month will include weekends.

 

Payment

The consultant will receive monthly payments upon the submission and validation of the progress report and the invoice.

 

Required Profile

 

Education

Bachelor’ degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Gender, Development, Political Science, International Affairs, Social Sciences, or another relevant field; and

Additional education or training in conflict management, media for peacebuilding, communication for social change would be a strong asset.

 

Experience:

Essential

Minimum of three years of related experience in project implementation.

Experience in designing and conducting project activities.

Some experience with the use of project management tools such as logical frameworks matrices, work breakdown structure, critical path analysis among others.

Experience in designing, planning community dialogues, round tables, in-person and virtually (online).

Desirable:

Experience working in a conflict resolution setting.

Experience working in a non-profit or similar environment.

Experience of partnership building, with experience of influencing stakeholders and establishing and maintaining strong partnerships.

An excellent planner with some knowledge and experience of project management tools and processes (project planning, work plans, budget planning, etc.).

Organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent use of Excel, excellent writing, and analytical skills.

Well organized, dynamic, and creative.

Some comprehension of the principles of conflict, conflict transformation, and the role of media in peacebuilding.

Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments.

Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances; and

Proficiency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
