Lebanon Eco Movement (LEM) founded in 2012 under the number 1236/2012 – and comprises more than 60 environmental organizations and associations from all over Lebanon having a wide range of expertise, working together to face Lebanon’s environmental challenges, preserving its natural and cultural heritage, and achieving a healthy and a sustainable environment.

LEM seeks to achieve this by: 

  • Participating in the planning of national environmental policies. 
  • Coordinating between different bodies and associations working on national environmental policies. 
  • Organizing advocacy campaigns for the preservation of the Lebanese environment. 
  • Strengthening the capacities of the member organizations. 
  • Raising environmental awareness across Lebanon and advocating local communities to work on preserving their natural resources and adhering to all ratified international conventions and governmental agreements. 

Notably, LEM has an operational environmental observatory to monitor and report environmental violations across the country, and it keeps close collaboration with the ministry of Environment MoE.

POSITION: Grants Officer

Key Responsibilities of the Grants Officer:

 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Search and assess available funding opportunities through local, government agencies, as well as through private and corporate foundations.
  • Design, write, and submit competitive funding proposals that are responsive to donor guidelines and requirements.
  • Facilitates grant efforts, including grant approval process and post-award compliance. ensures timelines are met.
  • Monitors post-award grant compliance
  • Follows up with funding agencies
  • Reads and interprets requests for proposals and funding guidelines from government agencies and foundations to determine if appropriate and how best to respond and comply.
  • Maintains necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials pertinent to grants office activities.
  • Develops and maintains grant application calendars
  • Performs various general grant administration functions such as budget amendments, plan change, program evaluation
  • Support the training and capacity building to LEM’s staff on proposal development and reporting.

Requirements for position:

 

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in grant writing
  • Knowledge of grants and grant administration systems, processes and budgeting
  • Ability to understand mentoring program operations
  • Ability to analyze and systematically compile technical and statistical information and to prepare reports and correspondence

  • Good communication skills, ability to communicate with people at all levels

  • High degree of self-motivation, personal ambition, resilience and persistence

  • Excellent desk research skills.
  • Proven experience in writing detailed project plans and proposals is required. 
  • Experience in sophisticated grant applications such as the EU applications is desirable.
