Basmeh and Zeitooneh is a registered Lebanese organization, committed to serving refugees and vulnerable communities in Lebanon, through four community centers across the country. The organization runs educational, relief, livelihoods, and protection programs, and aims to serve as an inclusive and supportive focal point for the entire community.

Job Purpose : 

The Livelihood Project officer will collaboratively work with the project manager and key functions including Grants Management, Municipalities, and relevant members of the community.

General Responsibilities :

  • Identify target MSMEs based on selection criteria through clear assessments on the field.
  • Support in conducting Business assessment surveys to identify needs and requirements for target MSMEs on the following levels:
    • Rehabilitation
    • Equipment
    • Working capital / raw materials/wages
    • Individual support – business management (needed technical support).
  • Follow up on the progress of work in selected MSMEs
  • Stay always available in project sites to monitor the implementation of activities, gather feedback from beneficiaries and submit a weekly detailed report about the activities and findings to the project manager
  • Field visits to 30 MSMEs to monitor the progress of work following the work plan provided by the project manager

Reporting and representation:

The livelihood field officer will be in charge of reporting the activities on a weekly basis on the different coordination tools developed by B&Z to the project manager.

Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, economics or project management, or any related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in development projects with a humanitarian background
  • At least 2 years of experience working with communities on the small business grants, vocational skills, cash-based programming, community-based credit schemes 
  • Experience in emergency humanitarian context and complex and volatile contexts (preferable);
  • Experience in budget management
  • Strong critical analysis and problem-solving skills;
  • Fluency in English and Arabic – both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills and the ability to work in a team
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Computer proficiency in word processing, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
