Environmental Expert

The environmental expert will offer 2-day training in the three targeted villages during July and September. He/She will be responsible to assess the environmental situation in the targeted villages during the month of August. The expert will develop a list of recommendation per village that will be used during the second day of training as basis for the roadmap development.

General Tasks

The project is seeking the support of an Environmental Expert/Consultant to answer the environmental needs in three targeted areas.

He/she shall perform several technical and administrative functions to support the operations of the project in the field.

The Environmental Expert will assist TERRE Liban team in fulfilling field-related duties until the end of September 2023.

The tasks mentioned below shall be performed in close cooperation with the Project Director.

The Consultant shall be responsible for carrying out all the necessary environmental data collection work and investigations to compile information and data required for the work.

The tasks involved will cover the following:

1. Preparation of training material
2. Support in trainings - 2 days per village
3. Prepare a field visit in coordination with TERRE Liban
4. Conduct field visits to the target villages
5. Assess environmental situation in the 3 targeted villages
6. Develop a list of environmental recommendations per village
7. Work in close collaboration with TERRE Liban to identify the needs required for successful delivery of project results
8. Attend the regular meetings at TERRE Liban offices

Specific responsibilities of the Environmental Expert are:

• To provide administrative and technical support for the planning and delivery of trainings
• To provide trainings
• To assess environmental situation in each village determining the priority that needs to be tackled
• To develop a list of recommendation for each village
• To assist in roadmap an advocacy campaign developing in training day 2  

TECHNICAL DELIVERABLES

• Training material
• Two-days training in 3 targeted villages
• Field visit and environmental assessment
• List of recommendations per village in the related field
• Final report

WORK DURATION

The activity will be conducted between July 7^th and September 30^th, 2023 thus the work duration shall not exceed 9 expert days including producing training material, conducting 2 days training per village, assessing the environmental situation in each village and delivering an analysis report on the environmental recommendations.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in one or several of the following areas: Environmental Sciences/Management, Agricultural Engineering or other relevant degree
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, focused on assessing environmental management and environmental impact assessment and mitigation
• Have previous experience in Lebanon and previous similar responsibilities in implementing similar context projects and activities.

III- Competencies:

1. High proficiency in Arabic and English languages
2. Demonstrate analytical, observational and critical thinking skills
3. Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills
4. Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks.

Duration of Contract

The contract is due by 30^th of September 2023
