Invitation to Bid - Ohhio Braiding Trainer for Cash for Work Project - TOR Ref#007
1. Description
The project comprises three types of cash for work activities targeting 900 workers: food production activities, including the production and distribution of daily meals and preserves baskets to 500 vulnerable families in targeted neighborhoods; agricultural activities including urban farming, small-scale farming; and crafts activities. Food production activities and Agriculture will run for 5 cycles, while the craft activities will run for 4 cycles. Each cycle will start with a period of training, part of which will be technical, and will differ from one sub-activity to another, and part of which will be cross-cutting across all sub-activities, over two days. The latter part will include onboarding training on PSEA, code of conduct, non-violent communication, work ethics and well-being. Once training is complete, the workers will move on to the production phase.
2- Objective:
The objective of the training is to equip participants with the necessary skills to master the Ohhio Braiding technique and produce high-quality handmade products such as blankets, cushions, and accessories. The trainer will deliver practical, hands-on sessions and ensure participants gain confidence in applying the technique independently.
3- Scope of work:
The Trainer will be responsible for:
- Designing and delivering a comprehensive training program on the Ohhio Braiding technique.
- Developing a detailed training agenda and relevant materials.
- Demonstrating the step-by-step process of Ohhio Braiding and guiding participants in creating various items.
- Ensuring all participants receive individual attention and support during the training sessions.
- Providing information on sourcing materials, product care, and potential market opportunities.
- Assessing participants' progress and providing constructive feedback.
- Preparing a final report, including an evaluation of the training and recommendations for future initiatives.
4- Deliverables:

- Training agenda, materials selection and BOQ preparation, in addition of designs selection.
- The trainer should deliver 3 days of trainings and 18 days of work supervision to ensure that the products are well made.
- Final report summarizing the training outcomes and participants’ progress.
5- Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal trainer should have:
- Proven experience in Ohhio Braiding or similar handcraft techniques.
- Experience in facilitating practical, hands-on training sessions.
- Strong communication and teaching skills.
- Ability to adapt the training to different skill levels.
- Knowledge of sustainable crafts and materials is a plus.
