CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Grasp ideas spoken and heard only once, then convey them in a second language instantly, accurately and completely, adhering to the style and intent of the speaker
· Maintain confidentiality regarding any information learned during the sessions. The interpreter will be asked to sign a confidentiality contract.
· Can generally capture geopolitical, regional, ethnic, and cultural elements in speeches. Translators must adhere to terms and means of expression specific to subject field (s).
· Able to translate terms that are related to gender, feminism, international law and politics.
· Other translation tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Previous professional Interpreting training preferred. The level of difficulty in the translations range from General, Semi-Technical, and Technical.
- Knowledge of gender, international law and politics, terminology in at least two languages.
- Demonstrated, exceptional communication skills to include conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively, and asking questions where clarification is needed.
- Ability to work successfully with others of diverse cultures and perspectives to achieve a common purpose.
- Being a feminist or feminist-ally is a MAJOR bonus!
