Background
Oxfam has been working in Lebanon since 1993 providing humanitarian assistance to vulnerable people affected by conflict, and promoting economic development, good governance at a local and national level, and women’s rights through Oxfam’s work with partners. Oxfam also works with local partners to contribute to the protection and empowerment of marginalized women and men.
Lebanon is facing multifaced crises taking significant toll on the mental and psychosocial wellbeing of individuals. Evidence shows that personnel working in humanitarian emergencies and in volatile contexts are exposed to heightened susceptibility for depression, anxiety and posttraumatic stress disorders. NGOs workers wellbeing is essential as it affects job performance and quality of services provided to communities. Therefore, it becomes necessary to support staff members to enhance their wellbeing, manage stress and learn self-care practices to prevent burnout.
Purpose and objectives
Oxfam in Lebanon is planning to organize one day staff retreat to promote staff wellbeing, enhance their skills of self-care. More particularly, the staff retreat aims to:
- Promote mental and physical wellbeing among staff
- Improve relationships between team members
- Provide staff with practical tools for self-care
Scope of work
Oxfam is looking to hire a consultant/consultancy firm to organize the wellbeing day.
The key responsibilities of the consultant/consultancy firm are:
- Designing an interactive one-day wellbeing retreat tailored to the needs of staff (around 60 participant) working in humanitarian and development fields
- Facilitate sessions including activities to promote wellbeing and self-care such as stress management techniques, self care training, team building
- Ensure an inclusive and safe space for participants.
- Provide a post-retreat report including recommendations
The activities during the one-day retreat could include the following:
- Ice breaker and team building exercises
- Techniques for stress reduction: relaxation, journaling, guided meditation, etc.
- Techniques for physical wellbeing: desk exercises for office wellbeing
- Psychological wellbeing: interactive workshop on job burnout, work-life balance, stress management
- Practical self-care tips for daily life
The day should include activities for team building and learning while having fun.
Timeline
The total number of working days allocated for this consultancy is set at 3 days starting on
20 April 2025 and lasting till 26 May 2025.

Expected Outputs

Qualifications of the consultants/consultancy firm
- A Degree (or equivalent degree/experience) in psychology, social work, or relevant field
- Proven experience in designing and facilitating staff wellbeing programs in NGOs
- Expertise in stress management, mental health, organizational safety and staff care
- Experience in working with NGOs
- Strong facilitation and engagement skills
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to work with people from different backgrounds.
- Familiarity with CSOs work in Lebanon.
- Excellent knowledge of the Lebanese context.
- Experience in using participatory workshop facilitation methodologies.
- Excellent communications skills (written and oral) in English and Arabic.
Management of the assignment
The tasks and deliverables of the consultant will be coordinated with Masarouna’s project team at Oxfam in Lebanon. Oxfam team will review and provide feedback to retreat program and proposed activities and reports, book venues for the retreat, and coordinate with participants.
Expression of Interest (EOI)
Interested consultant(s)/consulting firms should submit their:
- CVs of consultants and/or role of each consultant recruited under the scope of this assignment for firms;
- A cover letter detailing the interest in the assignment and relevant experience;
- A proposal including a detailed approach and workplan;
- Financial proposal detailing the consultancy fees as well as all the costs associated with this assignment;
- Minimum of three references of similar activities implemented, preferably INGO or local NGO experiences;
- Registration and official government documents, if applicable. Noting that 8.5% will be deducted from the total amount if not registered.
