Job Summary

The Monitoring Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the MEAL Manager, and will be supporting all MEAL activities of Mada Association and contributing to overall program quality.

The Monitoring Assistant will be responsible for applying tools that enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of Mada’s projects. He/she will design and develop data collection and visualization tools including data cleaning, data analysis and production of information products (factsheets, dashboards, reports, etc.).

The Monitoring Assistant will work from the Tripoli office and provide day-to-day support for all project activities and operations, including regular field visits to project sites.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support the MEAL Manager in developing/improving/updating tools for data collection, processing and analysis.
  • Provide technical assistance in data collection, data cleaning and data analysis.
  • Interpret data and findings, present/visualize results and communicate limitations.
  • Produce dashboards using data visualization platform.
  • Prepare and adapt coded surveys handy to use on mobile applications.
  • Collect data on regular basis through in person and remote modalities using post-distribution monitoring tools (PDMs), surveys, focus group discussions, spot checks, and other tools.
  • Supervise enumerators (if any) working to collect data.
  • Report to and alert the project team on a regular basis regarding any anticipated project issues, risks and any emerging opportunities and threats to the project implementation.
  • Ensure all MEAL-related data and files are properly organized and stored.
  • Receive and handle feedback and complaints from beneficiaries through Mada’s Helpline, share with MEAL Manager.
  • Any other task requested by the MEAL Manager.

Minimum Qualification and Experience

  • University degree in computer and data science, mathematics and statistics, Information management or related fields
  • 1-2 years of proven experience in using research methodologies and quantitative/qualitative data analysis (including collecting, cleaning, and triangulating information)
  • At least 1 year of experience working in humanitarian or development at an NGO.
  • Experience in implementing Feedback & Complaint Response Mechanisms is preferred.
  • Experience in complying with PSEA and Child Safeguarding policies is preferred
  • Experience with statistics and data science toolkits (coding Kobo, Python, etc.) and data visualization applications (Power Bi, Tableau, etc.) is preferred.
  • Excellent computer literacy, specifically Excel functions.
  • Good interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with staff and stakeholders and to work effectively within a team environment
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and maintain strict deadlines
