As part of its main objectives to enhance the protection of women in Lebanon, KAFA started operating a women's center in Bekaa in 2013. The center provides 2 types of interventions:
1- Prevention:
- Mobile Activities:
Awareness-raising sessions through community mobilizers targeting women on topics related to GBV prevention.
Emotional support groups for women
Information sessions facilitated by one of KAFA’s lawyers on law 293 and marriage and birth registration
- Static safe space:
In parallel with the outreach activities, many PSS activities are always ongoing in the center for women from all nationalities:
- Awareness-raising sessions
- Support groups, yoga, self-defense, singing, drumming, storytelling
- Art activities: theater, puppetry, photography, short movies, film making,
2- Direct intervention:
KAFA is also operating a Support Centre (SC) in Bekaa, with the goal of providing women and children survivors of violence with free counselling, support and referral services. The centre consists of a multidisciplinary team, with substantial experience in the area of VAW.
The community mobilizer will be responsible for the following:
- Apply first assessment form
- Maintain and update the database on all activities conducted by the community mobilizer
- Follow the annual plan set with the supervision of the centre supervisor
- Present schedule of activities on a weekly/ monthly basis
- Coordinate with the field coordinator on a daily basis.
- Provide psychosocial support sessions (AWSO, PSS, COP…) in informal settlements and households
- Raise logistics and technical challenges from the field
- Fill weekly reports
- Identify gaps regarding performance knowledge, the attitude of community members and provide the necessary support.
- Identify and refer beneficiaries to other available services
- Maintain good relations with local implementing actors, local authorities and other international and local stakeholders
- Raise trainings needed
- Respect and follow internal rules and regulations of KAFA
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS:
While working on a KAFA project, it is required to sign KAFA’s Child Protection Policy and Code of Conduct.
