BACKGROUND
INARA is a non-profit that provides access to life-altering medical and mental health care to conflict-impacted children. These children are injured or traumatized by the horrors of war, in the aftermath of conflict, unsafe living conditions, or human induced or natural disasters.  INARA fills programmatic gaps and takes on cases when no other institution can.

DESCRIPTION

The Communications Officer will work on implementing the organization’s communications strategy to ensure our work reaches new audiences, and working with Content Creators under the supervision of the Communications Manager.

Website

Developing stories for the website

Writing weekly news items and blog posts

Working with case-work team to develop website content

Campaign communications

Working with the Communications Manager and Content Creators to plan and develop communications for fundraising campaigns

Translating content into Arabic / English for campaigns

Contributing into campaign plans and development

Media relations

Building relationships with media outlets and journalists

Drafting and distribution of press releases when needed

Branding

Liaising with designers on marketing jobs and ensuring that the INARA brand is successfully implemented.

Translation

Translating key documents from English into Arabic (or vice versa) on an ad hoc basis.

Video

Assisting our Content Creators on field visits for filming

Developing timelines and storyboards for INARA’s videos

Events

Working with the Communications Manager and Fundraising & Development Coordinator on future awareness raising events.

Reporting

Reports to the Communications Manager on a regular basis

Requests approval for all payments from the Communications Manager

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Based in Beirut, the working environment will be a combination of both field and office-based work. Field work may be in various settings such as hospitals, primary healthcare centers, community health clinics, and non-profit social services organizations. There may be times when the position holder is required to work on the weekends or evenings and undertake other duties which are broadly in line with the above responsibilities.

 

Qualifications

Excellent English language skills

Copywriting skills

Good internal communication skills with colleagues

Willing to work under tight deadlines

Willing to deliver and take some field trips as requested during weekends (compensated)

 

REQUIREMENTS

Essential Requirements: Education and experience

A degree in Journalism or any related field

Experience in copywriting and narrative text development

Demonstrated abilities in storytelling and storyboard development
