About FISTA:

FIRST Step Together Association (FISTA) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting individuals with cognitive impairments, communication disorders, psycho-motor difficulties, learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders, hyperactivity, behavioral, and psycho-social problems. Established in 1993 and located in North Lebanon, FISTA’s mission is to provide education, vocational training, and professional rehabilitation for persons with disabilities, and to advocate for their rights. FISTA adheres to a strict zero-tolerance policy against any form of gift, favor, or hospitality offered to its staff by suppliers. This policy extends to a firm stance against sexual harassment, exploitation, abuse, and child abuse, with a commitment to thoroughly investigate all allegations and take appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.

Project Title:

Advancing Inclusivity, Protection, and Resilience for Persons with Disabilities in North Lebanon through Local Authority Support and Enhanced Access to Mental Health Services. in collaboration with Expertise France under the SHABAKE 2 Project.

Project Objective:

To reduce vulnerabilities and inequalities among persons with disabilities in North Lebanon, by improving their mental health and psychosocial well-being and strengthening inclusivity and accessibility across healthcare and social development sectors.

June 2024 Till April 2025

Position Title: Speech Therapist

We are seeking a highly qualified Speech Therapist to deliver speech therapy interventions to children and youth with disabilities;

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct speech therapy interventions to children/youth with disability.
  • Develop a therapeutic plan for each beneficiary and to share it with the concerned team and caregivers.
  • Fill assessment and session record sheets upon each session
  • Coordinate with the project director, the program consultant and other specialists.
  • Undergo supervision and follow-up sessions
  • Collaborate with the teachers on the individual therapeutic plan of each child
  •  To report on the child’s evolution and progress to the project coordination as requested.
  • Assess the level of speech impairments/delay, difficulty and set accordingly an individualized Treatment Plan
  • Fill discharge and end of treatment reports upon therapy completion
  • Collaborate with parents through meetings in order to meet desired goals and to evaluate the child's current level, personal areas for development, and capacities.
  • Conduct training sessions in schools increasing the knowledge of the teachers and team in schools about inclusion and topics related to children with disability
  • Conduct awareness sessions among the parents and the community on the speech development
  • Develop and customize training sessions for FISTA partners such as NGO’s and other stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Speech therapy is required.
  • An experience of at least five years working in therapy and conducting speech therapy sessions.
  • Strong experience working with children with disabilities.
  • Practical experience in providing speech support to children who have various disabilities, using specialized therapeutic techniques and interventions tailored to their specific circumstances.

  • The ability to work with patients from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
