Call for expert to deliver a webinar about “Agro-ecology” to the WHH team, WHH local partner organizations and to the wider interested audience

Welthungerhilfe (WHH) is a private, non-profit-making, politically independent and non-denominational organization that supports people living in deprivation and poverty, irrespective of the color of their skin, their religious beliefs or their worldview. WHH is working in the fields of development cooperation and humanitarian aid, relief aid, rehabilitation, and reconstruction. In Lebanon, WHH implement projects through local implementing partners where agriculture, livelihoods, food security and social stability are the main working fields.

The objective is to provide the audience with a wider understanding of the concept of agro-ecology, the relevant actors and their roles in the Lebanese context, examples from and for the Lebanese context and potentials for agro-ecology in humanitarian and development projects.

Task & Details

 To conduct a 90-minute webinar, including a presentation (using power-point or similar presentation tool for around 45-60 minutes) of the topic of agro-ecology, and to make a clear connection to the Lebanese context: What does agro-ecology mean in Lebanon, how is it being implemented and what potentials are there for its further application.

• The webinar should present:

• presentation about the concept of agro-ecology
• In which countries is it widespread and what geographical factors impact agro-ecology?
• How is agro-ecology applied in Lebanon?
• Who are the main actors relevant to agro-ecology in Lebanon?
• What problems/downsides are associated with agro-ecology?
• What factors enable and inhibit agro-ecology in Lebanon? What are further potentials for agro-ecology in Lebanon?
• What challenges are there for agro-ecology in Lebanon?
• Is agro-ecology financially viable?
• What is the environmental impact of agro-ecology?
• What implications does agro-ecology have for the social and human relations in agriculture?
• How can agro-ecology be incorporated in humanitarian and development projects in Lebanon?
• Present 2-3 cases/success stories in Lebanon and discuss the factors for success
• Open discussions about agro-ecology in the Lebanese context
• Suggested structure (To be validated by expert): 45-60 min presentation & 30-45 min Q&A

• Presentation should be delivered in Arabic language if possible (otherwise English), and the presentation slides can be either in Arabic or English
• To provide a copy of the presentation to WHH in ppt or pdf format
• Webinar will take place on MS Teams and the invitation of participants will be organized by the WHH team
