Qualifications:

  • University degree in Psychology

 

Professional experience:

  • At least 1 year of professional experience in the field of Humanitarian Aid or Development Cooperation
  • At least 1 year of practical work experience in the field of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support

 

Other requirements:

  • Proven skills in systematizing, summarizing and structuring information in English are a must
  • Proven gender-sensitivity
  • Fluent in English and Arabic
  • High degree of perspective-taking competence
  • Experience with online learning
  • Good communication skills
  • High tolerance for frustration

  1. Tasks

 

Assist in the production and dissemination of MHPSS knowledge, for example

  • Support in developing an online certificate that compiles knowledge acquired by the regional MHPSS project on the integration of MHPSS in international cooperation programming
  • Support in reviewing and developing factsheets, recommendation papers, information campaigns, website texts, presentations
  • Assist in the delivery of trainings, including preparation of training contents, implementation as well as assessment of training results
  • Assist with the translation to and from Arabic, as required and/or ensure that the quality of translated documents is at a very high standard
  • Develop ideas for the dissemination of lessons learned and knowledge on the local, regional and international level and put them into practice
  • Support follow-up on the use of products developed by the project via online platforms as well as interviews, questionnaires and surveys

 

Assist administration and office management

    • Follow-up of invoices and travel claims
    • Support in preparation of terms of reference, tender documents and coordination with administrative units
    • Support in archiving all documents in the document management system (DMS) of GIZ
    • Support in office organization, procurement of office equipment, and preparation of meetings

 

Assist piloting of MHPSS approaches with partners

    • Support in developing MHPSS interventions together with partners and consultants for specific groups of beneficiaries, such as migrant workers, survivors of GBV, persons with suicidal ideations etc.
    • Support in data collection and analysis on the impact of the implemented interventions
    • Monitor the project implementation via meetings, field visits, review of reports, and support in quality assurance
    • Support in documentation of the lessons learned of the project implementation and development of ideas for the adjustment and replication of the intervention

 

Assist in the anchoring of MHPSS in GBV prevention and response

    • Prepare and accompany an assessment to identify Primary Healthcare Centres and NGOs which will be technically supported
    • Support in setting up the steering committee with all governmental partners involved
    • Support in identifying international consultancies providing GBV prevention trainings, preparing and accompanying the tender
    • Support in organizational assessments of civil-society partners and primary health care centers, to identify capacity development needs
    • Support in the development of an action plan to improve the supervision for psychologists in internship and supporting its implementation
    • Support in establishing capacity development programs with professional associations, for instance of psychologists, midwives and others
    • Support in identifying suitable international researchers to accompany the implementation
    • Provide other forms of support upon demand

 

Assist in event management and networking

  • Support the organisation and logistics of exchange formats such as workshops, conferences, seminars, etc. and provide technical input to partners and stakeholders
  • Support the assessment of the results of the exchanges in accordance with the project’s MEAL schemes
  • Participate in round tables / task force / stakeholder meetings and other networking events, document discussions and share key discussion points with the team

 

Assist in PR, external communications, monitoring evaluation and learning

    • Document project results and highlights
    • Collect and store data needed for results-based monitoring and evaluation
    • Review partners’ products with regards to compliance with GIZ rules and regulations
    • Support GIZ PR responsible in the development of communications and PR products

Project Description: The Regional Project “MHPSS in the Middle East” operates in Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey, and Jordan in support of the professional and methodological knowledge of actors working in mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS). It enables the application of context-, trauma- and gender-sensitive approaches for psychosocially distressed people in the Middle East through piloting of MHPSS approaches, impact assessments, organization of technical exchange formats, and advisory on MHPSS integration in different sectors of development cooperation. Moreover, Lebanon-specific, GIZ aims to enhance the MHPSS support for survivors of gender-based violence and the strengthening of MHPSS-informed prevention approaches. The selected candidate will assume leading tasks both in the regional knowledge management project as well as the Lebanon-specific MHPSS-GBV project. The latter requires frequent presence in one of two selected communities where the project will be implemented. Working from home is permitted two days per week in a full-time position as per GIZ’s mobile work policy. Part-time employment is possible in a 70-100% range.
