Background

Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a global non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting political participation and democratic governance worldwide. Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, DRI operates across Western Asia and North Africa (WANA), Sub-Saharan Africa, and Europe. It maintains country offices in Tunisia, Lebanon, Libya (operating remotely from Tunisia), the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ukraine, collaborating with various international and local partners across several countries. In addition to its physical presence, DRI is actively engaged in promoting Digital Democracy in many other areas.   

Since 2016 DRI has been raising awareness and advocating for evidence-based policies and public debates that foster democratic and accountable governance, the rule of law, and political participation in Lebanon, in cooperation with civil society organisations and public officials.

Particularly, DRI is working to expand the democratic space for a civil society-led debate on systemic change in Lebanon, encouraging citizens to actively participate in the governing of their own country in an inclusive and participatory manner. 

DRI is currently recruiting an AI Expert for its country office in Lebanon to deliver a training workshop on the use of various AI tools to optimise organisational operations for non-profits, including – but not limited to – drafting concept notes, project proposals, narrative reports, newsletters, social media content, financial reports, and facilitating procurement and recruitment processes. The participants are the DRI Lebanon staff (12 staff members).

 

Your duties and responsibilities

Under the supervision of DRI’s Country Representative, the Expert shall deliver a hands-on training workshop on AI applications, covering the following:

  • Brief introduction to AI and overview of its different agents, tools, and their usage;
  • Leveraging AI in non-profits: challenges, risks, and opportunities;
  • Hands-on techniques for using AI prompts for maximum effectiveness;
  • Utilising AI in programming: drafting concept notes, project proposals, and narrative reports;
  • Utilising AI in Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL): developing KPIs, results frameworks, and learning tools;
  • Utilising AI to develop PowerPoint decks;
  • Utilising AI in communications: developing newsletters, social media content/captions, and content calendars;
  • Utilising AI in procurement and recruitment, e.g., generating criteria and terms of reference for a specific assignment, role, or service provision;
  • Utilising AI in financial management, e.g., creating financial reporting templates;
  • Available free courses online to delve deeper into AI use.

 

Your skills and experience

  • Extensive knowledge of various AI agents, tools, and their practical applications in organisational processes;
  • Training experience on the use of AI tools;
  • Strong knowledge of how donor-funded non-profit organisations operate in Lebanon;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
