The Association is seeking to promote the teaching of history in Lebanon and raise public awareness about the importance of history, and to ensure that history teaching becomes more recognized by society and more attractive to learners. It aims at encouraging continuous learning for different age groups as a way to build learners’ critical thinking, shape their personalities and develop a sense of individual and collective responsibility.

LAH is a collective of educators, history teachers, academics, historians, educationalists, and activists. Together, we strive to develop history education in Lebanon using a disciplinary approach that caters to the needs of the country and promotes the development of the “human being” within Lebanese society.
Our mission is to contribute to the advancement of history teaching and learning in Lebanon, recognizing history as a distinct discipline and specialized field of study.

The Lebanese Association for History (LAH) is a Lebanese NGO working towards contributing to developing History Education through a disciplinary approach that fosters historical thinking, inclusiveness, multi-perspectivity and dialogue skills. LAH also aims at incorporating dealing with the past in the teaching of history to contribute to the transformation of the conflict.
LAH was established in 2013 by a group of history teachers, educational specialists, and historians who noticed a dire need to work on history education in Lebanon to overcome the history curriculum knot.
