Position: Financial Manager

Organization: Creative Space Beirut - NGO and SECOND st. - Social Enterprise

Start Date: September 3, 2018

Job Description: The Financial Manager will be responsible for budgeting, financial strategy, all key financial decision, informing Director on projected versus actual budget, and working with the General Manager to match the operational plan with the budget. The Financial Manager will work with the auditor and lawyer to ensure the organization meets all legal requirements regarding NSSF and the Ministry of Finance. Ensuring proper documentation and organization of all financial matters. The Financial Manager will be responsible to manage the Finances of both the NGO and the social enterprise. The Financial Manager is responsible for finding, applying for, and managing grants for the NGO. The Financial Manager will work directly with the Accountant. The Financial Manager will produce quarterly financial reports, as well as a final year report. All team members of the organization wear many hats. The Financial Manager will also be responsible for contributing during sales events, yearly fashion show, fundraisers, and any other events organized by or for the NGO and social enterprise.

Hours are Monday - Friday, 10am-6pm at the organization’s office in Beirut Souks, with approved national holidays off and standard vacation and sick leave. The applicant will be registered in NSSF by the organization.

Responsibilities:

-Manage finances for both the NGO and social enterprise.

-Update accounts weekly. (both organizations)

-Provide Direct, General Manager, and Board with monthly and quarterly financial reports. (both organizations)

-Track organizations’ revenue and expenses and provide advice on financial strategy. (both organizations)

-Create yearly budget that is aligned with the operational plan. (both organizations)

-Weekly meetings with accountant. (both organizations)

-Regular meetings and communication with auditor. (both organizations)

-Research, apply for, and manage received grants (NGO).

-Actively work with relevant team members on fundraising strategy for the NGO and its projects and events.

-Work with Director and relevant team members to create project budgets for projects throughout the year. (both organizations)

-Attend team meetings

-Undertakes other related duties, as assigned or requested by Director or General Manager

Qualifications:

-At least three years of experience in financial management (NGO or for-profit sector).

-Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or management (Master’s preferred).

-Experience in grant writing and management (preferred).

-Demonstrated knowledge of fashion design management (preferred).

-Demonstrated interest and passion in working for a social cause and community betterment.

-Fluency in English and Arabic.  

Organization Description: Creative Space Beirut (NGO) is a free school for fashion design providing an entirely free, three year education to students who lack the financial means to receive an education at increasingly expensive institutions. The SECOND st. social enterprise is a sister company of Creative Space Beirut. The social enterprise is comprised of three for-profit apparel brands, 1) SECOND st., 2) csb ready to wear, and 3) Roni Helou. The social enterprise donates a percentage of its net profits to Creative Space Beirut, thereby supporting the sustainability of the NGO. Although both organizations are registered as separate legal entities, they share space and staff. All staff work for both organizations. The social enterprises continuously supports the NGO by covering all rent and staff salary costs. Our organization is committed to providing free design education and working towards making the Lebanese design sector more inclusive for all aspiring and working designers.

Timeline: Applicants are invited to apply on a rolling basis until August 20, 2018. Interviews will be held on a rolling basis until the end of August. The applicant must be available to begin working on September 3, 2018. The accepted applicant will be trained by the outgoing Financial Manager from September 3 to mid-October, 2018. During the training period, the salary will be at a reduced rate. Once the accepted applicant begins to work independently, the full salary will be paid.
