Areas Of Responsibility

The Executive Director duties will include: 

Team Management & Leadership: Lead our team of 30 staff.

Strategic Planning: Facilitate the strategic planning process guided by the board, involving the national management team and other key staff in identifying priority areas and setting objectives. Communicate and monitor plans to ensure efficient implementation.

Programme Development, Management and Monitoring: Ensure that resources are focused on delivering quality education through effective management and monitoring, including periodic in-person site visits. Ensure the review and evaluation of programmes to ascertain that agreed plans and policies are implemented, and where necessary provide capacity building and technical support.

Governance Structure and Development: With the support of our legal firm, ensure compliance with relevant national legislation and governance best practice. Present plans, reports and proposals at quarterly board meetings. Ensure cooperation with the President of the board. Ensure that board decisions are translated into clear actions.

HR Management and Organisation Development: Ensure that the right people are employed for the right positions and that the team is treated according to the principles of the organisational culture.

Finance and Funds Management: With the support of our accounting firm, implement and monitor the internal control system, review key figures & financial reports. Ensure the realisation of annual financial statements and external audit reports. Ensure planning and budgeting. Support and oversee a grant-writing consultant, build relationships with donors, and review funding applications.

Partnership Building and Cooperation with External Stakeholders: Establish sound relationships with project partners, alongside our Project Manager. Build partnerships with potential core projects who work on education, empowering children and technology.

Cooperation and Reporting: Maintain close cooperation with the Project Managers and STEM Education Lead as well as supporting and monitoring the performance of staff. 

Marketing and Communications: Support the Head of Communication to develop a communication strategy.

 

Qualifications / Requirements 

Education: University degree in a relevant field.

Experience: At least 10-15 years of related experience working in the non-profit sector, with at least 5 years working in a senior managerial role.

Technical knowledge: Good understanding of the humanitarian and development landscape in Lebanon, including experience interacting with Lebanese NGOs, the UN and the Lebanese ministries. Good understanding of the donor landscape in Lebanon. Experience managing risks within an NGO context. Experience with NGO governance best practice.

Managerial skills: Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, good public speaking, excellent writing skills; knowledge of project management for development results

Languages: Excellent written and verbal English and Arabic.
