BACKGROUND:

The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization based in Beirut. CLDH was created in 2006 by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily), which has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human rights violations.

CLDH monitors the human rights situation in Lebanon, fights enforced disappearance, impunity, arbitrary detention and racism, as well as offering rehabilitation for victims of torture. CLDH regularly organizes press conferences, workshops and advocacy meetings on human rights issues in Lebanon and collects, records and documents human rights abuses in reports and press releases.

CLDH team on the ground supports initiatives aimed at determining the fate of all missing persons in Lebanon.

CLDH regularly follows up on numerous cases of arbitrary detention and torture in Lebanon in coordination with Lebanese and international organizations, and with the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention WGAD and the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture.

CLDH currently has four different offices in Dora, Baouchrieh, Beqaa and Tripoli.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The accountant is under the supervision of and reports directly to the Finance Manager. His/Her/Their main duties include but are not limited to:

 

  • Implementing financial policies/procedures and regulations with compliance.
  • Verifying and controlling all financial and relevant supporting documents.
  • Verifying all financial documents are compliant with the MOF requirements.
  • Bookkeeping / controlling of all financial entries in the accounting system
  • Ensuring financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures
  • Processing payments in appropriate model
  • Coordinating with administrative & finance staff to ensure accurate cash management/control including petty cash/checks, payments
  • Act as “Petty Cash Custodian”
  • Verifying Cash Balance on a daily basis and performing Petty cash reconciliation
  • Verifying all necessary documents: contracts, invoices, receipts to ensure that they are signed and approved by the concerned parties
  • Preparing a weekly report for cash situation and submitting it to the Finance Manager
  • Conducting Cash withdrawal processes
  • Preparing and controlling bank reconciliations
  • Ensuring proper and effective filing of the documents
  • Assisting in preparing the NSSF & Income Tax on salaries
  • Assisting the Finance Manager in their tasks

Qualifications:

  • Good communication skills and team player
  • Shows ethics and confidentiality regarding all work-related cases
  • Fluency in Arabic and English language, good in French
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

 

Education:

Completion of Secondary education or equivalent technical or commercial school with certificate/training in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Office Management or other related fields.

Location:

The Accountant works at CLDH main office in Dora.
