Consultant (social stability)
The project intends to alleviate the tension between the targeted host communities and refugees while fostering collaborative relationship through conducting joint sessions on various topics. In order to do so, the project will aim to identify community members/groups who are linked to an existing structure rather than artificially create new ones. As such, the project intends to create a solid foundation for the youth groups whereby a system of coordination would continue to operate beyond the duration of the proposed intervention. This will be done initially by engaging with the municipalities to provide guidance and recommendation on active community groups, associations and institutions in the targeted areas and identified needs related to public services and resources. The project is expected to achieve several objective and have several outputs at different levels as following:
Overall objective: Resilient and strengthened local communities (specifically youth), government and civil societies can respond to their needs, and promote social cohesion.
Specific Objective (SO) 1: Empowered youth utilize knowledge and opportunities to participate in enhancing local community initiatives
Output 1.1: Awareness and skills on social cohesion and participation of women and youths in community development is increased.
Output 1.2: Knowledge and skills are put to use in the development of initiatives
SO2: Informal oversight committee members collaborate to reduce tensions in their respective communities
Output 2.1: Joint collaboration between both host community and refugees is enhanced
EXPECTED DELIVERABLES:
- Support the project coordinator in developing social cohesion questionnaire for assessment data collection (including developing the methodology, sampling and tools)
- Support the project coordinator in the analysis of the assessment findings;
- Develop training content on social cohesion based on the push/pull factors and connectors/ dividers;
- Conduct the technical capacity building sessions for the identified informal committee members in coordination with the project coordinator
- Conduct regular meetings with members in order to discuss dividers and connectors in the targeted communities and come up with 3 interventions; this includes brainstorming sessions between different members on priority needs, social cohesion and project designs and ensure that minutes of meetings (MoM)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Fluent in Arabic and English is a must;
- At least 3 years of previous experience in conducting training in peacebuilding and social cohesion
- Excellent communication, reporting, and pro-active negotiation skills
- Bachelor degree in social sciences related field or other related degree
- Well-organized, self-motivated and ability to work in a team
- Preference to candidate with field experience in Bekaa area
- Ability to cope and work under pressure with strict deadlines
- Skilled at working with local communities and authorities
- Experience in project implementation, field monitoring and report writing
- Willing to travel within different areas in the Bekaa and to the main office in Dbayeh
