Citizen Scientist Opportunity in Bar Elias

CatalyticAction is seeking to recruit a group of citizen scientists (local researchers) in Bar Elias, Beqaa to help document and explore young people’s engagement and action in the city. Our project ‘Co-producing Digital Platforms for Youth Inclusive Urban Governance (YUP)’ aims to understand young people’s role in urban planning and governance, and to explore how young people could collaborate to address urban issues that are important for them, using digital platforms. We believe that collaborative research involving local researchers creates more meaningful outcomes, for the research itself as well as the communities involved. 

We are seeking young people who represent the diversity of Bar Elias. We welcome applicants from all sections of the community, irrespective of nationality, gender, ability, religion or belief. This project will enable you to get a better understanding of youth participation and digital platforms in Bar Elias, to work to improve planning outcomes in your city and to develop skills in research and facilitation. You will be part of a diverse team, working with other citizen scientists, the CatalyticAction team and researchers from the Development Planning Unit. The recruited citizen scientists will be paid upon the completion of their training sessions and research tasks. Citizen scientists will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the project. 

CatalyticAction is an organisation that uses design and architecture to empower vulnerable children, youth and their communities. We achieve this through built and research projects, delivered using a participatory approach that engages local communities. We work with communities to produce dignified built environments where everyone can take part in the creation of equitable, inclusive and sustainable communities. 

The Bartlett Development Planning Unit (DPU) at University College London (UCL) conducts world-leading research and postgraduate teaching that helps to build the capacity of national governments, local authorities, NGOs, aid agencies and businesses working towards socially just and sustainable development in the global south. Our mission is to build the capacity of professionals and institutions to design and implement innovative, sustainable and inclusive strategies.

تسعى منظمة كتاليتك أكشن إلى تدريب مجموعة من الباحثين المحليين في بر الياس، البقاع للمشاركة في توثيق واستكشاف تفاعل جيل الشباب مع مدينتهم. يهدف مشروعنا البحثي " التشارك في انتاج منصات رقمية نحو حوكمة مَدينية شاملة للجيل الشاب (YUP)"، إلى فهم دور الشابات والشباب في التخطيط والحوكمة المَدينية، واستكشاف كيفية التعاون بين الشباب لمعالجة القضايا المَدينية ذات الأهمية لهم باستخدام المنصات الرقمية. نحن نؤمن بأن البحث التشاركي الذي يشارك فيه باحثون محليون يؤدي إلى نتائج ذي قيمة وتأثير أكبر للبحث نفسه وللمجتمعات المعنية. 

وعليه، نسعى لتكوين فريق باحثين يُمَثِّلون التنوع الموجود في بر الياس. نرحب بالطلبات المقدَّمة من جميع شرائح المجتمع، بٍغَضِّ النظر عن الجنسية أو الجنس أو القدرة أو الدين أو المعتقد. سَيُمَكِّنك  هذا المشروع من تكوين فهم أفضل حول جيل الشباب والمنصات الرقمية في بر الياس، والعمل نحو تحسين نتائج التخطيط في مدينتكم، وتطوير مهاراتكم في مجال البحث والتيسير. سوف تعملون كجزء من فريق متنوع مع باحثين محليين آخرين، فريق  كتاليتك أكشن، وفريق باحثين من وحدة التخطيط التنموي في كلية بارتليت (DPU). سوف يتقاضى الباحثون المحليون أجورًا مُستَحَقّة عند الانتهاء من الدورات التدريبية والمهام البحثية، كما سيحصلون على شهادة إتمام في نهاية المشروع.

كتاليتك أكشن هي منظمة غير حكومية  تستخدم التصميم والهندسة المعمارية لتمكين الأطفال والشباب ومجتمعاتهم الهشة .ونحقق ذلك من خلال المشاريع المبنية والبحثية التي تعتمد على نهج تشاركي مع المجتمعات المحلية. نحن نعمل مع المجتمعات لإنتاج بيئات مبنية كريمة حيث يمكن للجميع المشاركة في إنشاء مجتمعات عادلة وشاملة ومستدامة. 

تجري وحدة التخطيط التنموي في كلية بارتليت (DPU) في كلية لندن الجامعية (UCL) أبحاثًا رائدة عالميًا ودراسات عليا تساعد على بناء قدرات الحكومات الوطنية والسلطات المحلية والمنظمات غير الحكومية ووكالات الإغاثة والشركات التي تعمل من أجل تحقيق تنمية عادلة ومستدامة اجتماعيًا في الجنوب العالمي . مهمتنا هي بناء قدرات المهنيين والمؤسسات لتصميم وتنفيذ استراتيجيات مبتكرة ومستدامة وشاملة.
