Job Purpose: To assist in the implementation of activities related to committee work under the Porticus grant.

Reports To: This position will report to the Head of Advocacy & the Research Technical Manager.

Major Activities:

  • Coordinating quarterly data collection efforts, along with chosen enumerators 
  • Training enumerators on data collection 
  • Tracking the data and ensuring data quality 
  • Following up with enumerators and adapting the data collection methods and activities as needed, based on feedback and data collected 

Types of data to be collected:

  1. Monitoring of any deportations, arrests, evictions, raids in the area of operation
  2. Monitoring any protection-related risks that might be unfolding in the community, specifically relating to child protection and GBV

People Management: Working with a team of chosen enumerators , only if needed

Miscellaneous: 

  • Actively engaging with the refugee community to understand their needs, concerns, and aspirations.
  • Serving as a bridge between the community members and the organization/initiative, facilitating effective communication.
  • Organizing and coordinating community events, workshops, and activities to address specific needs identified within the community.
  • Building relationships with refugees and community members.
  • Providing information and assistance on available resources and services.
  • Promoting a sense of belonging and community cohesion.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Community Engagement Plans: Develop and implement strategies for engaging with communities effectively, ensuring their active participation in research activities and empowerment initiatives.
  • Training Programs: Develop and conduct training programs for community members and researchers to enhance their skills and knowledge in research methods and empowerment strategies.
  • Field Research Reports: Generate comprehensive reports based on field research, including data analysis, findings, and recommendations for community empowerment.
  • Documentation and Communication: Ensure proper documentation of research processes and empowerment initiatives. Communicate findings and progress to internal and external stakeholders through reports, presentations, or other suitable mediums.
  • Feedback Mechanisms: Implement systems for collecting and analyzing feedback from community members to continuously improve research and empowerment approaches.
  • Metrics and Evaluation: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and evaluation mechanisms to measure the impact of research and empowerment activities on the community.

Competencies

Functional:  

  • Previous experience working with refugees or in a multicultural context.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of the challenges faced by refugee populations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with community members.
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. 
  • Proficiency in fundamental Microsoft software applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
