Job Purpose:

Basmeh & Zeitooneh is looking to recruit an experienced Education Project Coordinator to be responsible for the day-to-day management and implementation of the education and protection project in Shatila & Nabaa.

He/She is expected to lead a project team of Retention Support Coordinator, Admin Officer, Outreach & Data Entry Officer & Teacher & Cleaner. The Project Coordinator will work under the overall guidance of Lebanon’s head of programs.  The Project Coordinator will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination of project activities, and monitoring of project results.

Major Activities:

Project Cycle Management and Implementation:

  • Develop a comprehensive detailed implementation plan, including tasks, responsibilities, timelines, and resources needed for each project phase.
  • Coordinate with project team members to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Ensure project implementation is on time, within target, and budget, that the project targets are well understood and achieved according to the implementation work plan, and to adapt the work plan when required. 
  • Conduct regular project meetings to review progress and identify areas for
  • improvement.
  • Regularly review the detailed implementation plan and adjust it as required to meet project objectives.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management strategies to mitigate potential
  • project risks.
  • Oversee all procurement needs in coordination with the B&Z procurement unit 
  • Draft timely periodic activity progress reports to the education Program manager
  • Collaborate with the B&Z MEAL Team
  • Ensure all activities adhere to Basmeh and Zeitooneh Gender Policy, Do No Harm principles, Safeguarding, and accountability standards.

Team Management and Capacity Building:

  • Providing technical support to all project staff members.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team
  • members.
  • Promote teamwork, communication, and mutual support among team members.
  • Identify training needs and organize capacity-building activities to enhance the team’s skills and knowledge.
  • Create and sustain a work environment of mutual respect where team members strive to achieve excellence and grow as individuals and as a team according to B&Z culture.

Budgeting, Forecasting, and Budget Monitoring:

  • Ensure compliance with donor and B&Z regulations and standards;
  • Develop and manage the project budget, ensuring alignment with project activities and objectives.
  • Monitor project expenses and ensure they remain within the approved budget.
  • Oversee the project budget, project cash flow, and expenditures and keep track of expenditures and budget versus actuals planning and reporting;
  • Ensure frequent organized meetings with finance and other support teams are conducted every month with reviews of projections based on accurate commitments tracking, procurement plans/cost work, or activity plans.

Reporting:

  • Develop communication material for internal and external audiences in collaboration with the B&Z Communications unit;
  • Lead on and produce quality internal and external reports that are coherent and accurate with high professional standards promptly. 
  • Communicating directly with donors and attending all partner meetings.
  • Reporting directly regularly.
  • Establish connections with local communities and key persons
  • Coordinate with local actors and other education and protection actors during the Project implementation to avoid duplication of assistance
  • Adhere to Basmeh & Zeitooneh’s Code of Conduct policy, understanding that all team members represent the organization both inside and outside the office and should act in ways that bring credit to the organization.
  • Represent the organization in meetings, workshops, working groups, and conferences related to the project

Education & Experience:

Education: Advanced university degree in social work or related area. A Master's degree is a plus.

Experience:

  • minimum 3 years of job experience relevant to the function, in a comparable environment with non-governmental organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Prior experience in delivering tasks according to tight deadlines.
  • Previous experience in managing a team
  • Previous experience in working with refugees
  • Good skills in anticipating problems and developing solutions; - Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to deal with administration and documentation.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to rural field locations.
  • Knowledge of English written and spoken.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel as well as accounting packages & other database competencies.
  • Working knowledge of a range of donor rules and regulations.

  • At least 5 years in humanitarian assistance and 2 years of international relief and emergency experience in the same position,
