Description:

M-Coalition, the LGBT health department of the Arab Foundation for Freedoms and Equality (AFEMENA) and MENA Rosa, network of women living with, affected by and/or at risk of HIV are looking for a research consultant to produce a report around the situation of sex workers in regards to human rights and HIV in the Middle East and North Africa Region.

The HIV response in the Middle East and North Africa does not yet respond properly to the key affected populations and those at risk. While many national programs have recorded efficiency and increase in screening efforts, the populations mostly at risk still face much stigma and discrimination and low prevalence of testing and lesser adherence to treatment and access to services.

M-Coalition and MENA Rosa, under the Robert Carr Fund for Networks, are working on conducting a research to act as a baseline report on the situation of female, male and transgender sex workers in 3 countries in the MENA: Lebanon, Morocco and Egypt. The research, implemented by our national partners will conduct qualitative interviews with a total of 120 sex workers. The consultant will be charged with setting the interview questions, protocols and training data collectors online with the support of our team.

The consultant is expected to start July 1st 2019.

The total period of the project is 6 months, the consultant is expected to support the project for 2 months (July and November)

The two main tasks are:

  • Create the research methodology and the data collection questions.
  • Compile, analyse data and write the report.

Fees: 3000$ divided over 4 payments of 750$ (July: first payment of first questionnaire draft, second payment upon delivery of final questionnaire, November: third payment upon delivery of first report draft, fourth upon incorporating all corrections and delivery of final draft)
